I also went to the US only knowing Spanish and first went into elementary in LA for a few months and learned NOTHING and struggled so much with homework and interacting with other kids. Then changed to a school in Long Beach and immediately started to learn because my teacher was so patient and gave me extra lessons. These kinds of teachers are 👏🏼 so 👏🏼 important 👏🏼

I think her her English is perfect. I learned Spanish in high school when I was 18 & it was really hard. Every word I spoke had to be in the correct form.

Even without a language barrier I feel like being behind can be attributed to not finding it interesting. Whether than not being as able as other kids. As kids it’s very hard to sit down and listen. We haven’t really understood why it’s important. I don’t understand why schools make young people not old enough to know better repeat.
