Defense and a few timely forehands was enough for Kerber last year. I don't think it will be this year. She has 3 major problems:

1. Serena

WTA: I hate, hate, hate, that I can no longer watch matches on TV! Now, it's being said that fans of the WTA will have to pay a streaming subscription to view tennis matches. If this happens, Serena Williams will definitely be the last well known female tennis star. I thought you guys wanted to expand the viewer demographics in tennis? This will only exclude the very people you were trying attract to diversify women's tennis. I can't imagine lots of men paying money for female tennis, but I was one of the guys that would tune in to see good WTA matches, including Grand Slams. This is good for European and Australian tennis because the sport is bigger over there, but American WTA will get the shorter end of the deal...just watch. I hope they come up with a better solution.

Even though she did a great job getting this win over a world no.1, I just cannot find anything appealing about Svitolina. Cmon girl, I know there are more important things, but get your look together. I decent plait in your hair and a smidge of foundation could do you wonders.
