RING TEXTURES: Brush, Stone, and Hammer Finishes!

Shiny rings are nice, but adding textures can create a unique look to a ring! Brush finishes are great for a matte look. Stone finishes can brighten up a ring with deep texturing. Hammer finishes are created by making a bunch of individual hammer indentations around an entire ring.

My weddingband is hammered and brushed, I love it so much! I didn't want stones in the ring but did want a unique look. No regrets!

The editing and commentary were really useful for someone just getting in to jewelry making! Thanks.

I'd never even heard of the Stone finish, and now I think I'm in love 😍 It gives the metal an almost cats-eye kind of shine

I got my ex-girlfriend a hammered ring for christmas in 2019, it is a really narrow and overall fragile looking ring and I love how it looks. Still see her wearing it in school, which makes me happy. It really suits her.

We have weddingbands with 2 colors of gold and 2 finishes. The white gold is brushed and the rose gold is brushed and hammered. My ring has an additioal lttle diamond in it. Very happy we chose this. This reminds me that the brushing as to be done again because over time the rings get a bit more shiny.

🔷These were especially popular in the '70's.
🔶The "brushed" or Florentine Finish peaked in the '50's-early '60's.
🔷Hammering was big in the '60's.
🔶The "stone" or Satin Finish was everywhere in the '70's.
🔷Next I expect the '80's Diamond Cut to come back. 😀

I’ve always liked the sand blasted look.

The brushed hammered band is my favourite! It´s so unique! Even if you make the same band again - It will never have the same pattern <3

Not going to lie I knew about hammered bands. But the brush and stone look are brand new ideas to me. I've always believed that when I do get married I will have to have two sets of rings one for fancy occasion with stone in it and one that's more of an everyday band. Something a little more hard wearing that I can do work around the house in and still have my ring on. I'm very seriously considering this stone look now. Because it is bright and bold in its own way but without the stones or pins to snag on stuff.

Damn, I keep getting engagement ring videos recommended to me on YouTube. Hopefully my boyfriend is getting the same recommendations 😉

In all seriousness, these craftsman videos are so captivating! Such great production too!

I once had a teddy bear charm, that I loved. I thought it was hammered but seeing your ring I'm not sure what texture it was. I like the stone texture the most.
