Something that always really impressed me about this one is how she is able to just stand there and keep this song in a perfect little pocket from start to finish. Having watched a lot of talent shows over the years, I think almost any other performer would feel the need to start this off slow and soft, and then at some point kick up the beat, pull the mic off the stand. and dance around the stage for the last half of the song... and then end it with a big belt (anyone that has watched talent shows knows exactly the worn out format I am talking about). I imagine some stage producer may have even tried to make this happen. ...but Angelina is a true artist, and she did this song exactly as it should have been done. She kept it right where it should be for the entire song.

What shocked me about this is not only does it require a lot of very small subtle variations because of the repetition, but it also requires an emotional intensity that is really really shocking. Not to mention an 8 year old hitting those low notes.

This was a big hit when Nancy Sinatra covered it, but Angelina far surpassed Nancy's version, IMO. The vocal nuances in Angelina's version are extraordinary & her emoting skills are off the charts even at this young age of 8. A simple song that's easy to mess up.

I've listened to just about everyone that has sung this song and noticed that Angelina is the only one to slide some words. For instance at 2:08 and 2:12 which gives the song a more emotional effect.

Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. What stands out the most for me about this eye popping performance is seeing how confident and comfortable eight year old Angelina is, her uncanny maturity and her professionalism.

It is Angelina’s pre teen performances that I tell new reactors to watch and react to because they can not gain a proper perspective of uniquely gifted and talented Angelina is without knowing her musical history.
