The Optiplex 170L was released in 2004, which makes it about 18 years old. The service tag on the side of the machine would say exactly when the system was built, but the camera moved around too much to be able to read it. It looks like it's CMC??1J, where the ?? are unknown because of the blur. The M might also be an N.

Dell used this case form factor for the lower end Dimension 1100 series as well. Once nice feature about this case is that it's bog standard MicroATX. You can shoehorn much more modern parts into it with a bit of modification to both the fan connector and front I/O connector if you want to build a "sleeper" PC, or just like the challenge.

You can also slightly upgrade the existing motherboard by soldering on the missing RAM slots to get a higher maximum memory. I've done this on a few motherboards and it generally works, though the BIOS might not report the additional memory, but it is seen and usable within the OS. It may also be possible to solder in the missing AGP slot if the passive components are there to support it, which is a 50/50 chance. It looks like most of the passives might be there, but it's hard to tell with the bad video quality.

10 year? 17 year minimum, this PC does not have SATA ports first SATA since 2005.PGA 478 socket since 2001-2003.

it's actually 20 year old lol.I had somebody a few months ago complaining his pc fails to boot and if i can take a look at it if he sends it to me.I tought he probably had some pc with malware on it, but it turned out to be this thing with a celeron and 256mb of ram still in use in 2021 😂 the damn thing was still fine, the problem was that it was finally not able to browse the web anymore and he tought his computer has a problem.Those things were built like tanks, they will probably survive the apocalypse
