and even though she downplays just how much Mariah has touched her life, im rooting for her because i need my generation to have FUTURE icons/legends.. and yass for Ariana singing live, you better show them how to do it.

as you can see, ariana doesn't even take it so serious. it's not like she's using the compliment to be selfish or anything. she says "i just can't wait for people to hear the rest of the album to see what ARIANA'S about." of course she takes it as a compliment, who wouldn't. but it's not like that compliment makes her more famous. she gets it once in a while. everybody chill. mariah fans are being so dramatic about this it's kinda stupid.

Ariana is a great vocalist but we can find many Arianas just on YouTube alone. We can never find any Mariah anywhere other than herself. The originality of the voice is what matters. Unless I know the songs, I wouldn't recognize Ariana's voice. But I do recognize Mariah's on any materials she makes. Maybe it's just me.

Still don't know what this girl did to deserve this much bashing. Yes, she covered Emotions and maybe even other songs, but you can search other videos where she says that she adores Mariah. Here, she says it IS a big compliment, but people have a tendency to go deaf when she says that she wants people to know that she wants to be herself in the music.
ALL of the haters, just get to know that it could be YOU that turned her into what she is now. Cause even if you try to compare them both, she's far from being alike to Mariah now. She doesn't do whistles anymore, she wears somewhat indecent clothes, she sounds different than before. But even with that, she still suffers from this hate. Mariah is still unmatchable, btw.

omgosh please stop being so hateful lol  she has a great voice. not she is not Mariah or Jojo, she is Ariana ..with very much her own musical style.

btws the reason people compare her to Mariah is because both singers are so on key and technical in their r&b that...set the standard. point blank how it should be done. from a technical standpoint. people hear that and go oo she copying. but fer real when you hit some of the notes these two singers can hit. when performing vocal runs. it goes down like that, and they are gonna sound pretty damn similar.  like Leona Lewis, when she gets up in those notes she sounds just like Ari and MC, (tho Leona has a slow vibrato, that just makes her voice sound unique. to be fair)

before anyone gets it twisted, I am die hard MC fan.  but I have come to love Ariana's vocals, as her own. she has this 30/40s r&b feel to her music, also the music comes from a different era than mariah. so she comes off cutesy, and very young. while when mariah was 19/20, we were coming off divas, like Donna Summer, Aretha, Anita baker. barrel chested power r&b, which made her music sound the way it did eg, make it happen, Emotions, vanishing <---LOVE this song.

Ari has her own thing, it's cute. but her vocal talent is right up there with some of the best. and if you would park your defensive MC is the best campaigning, and listen, and hear her for what she is. you might just dig her music, and like her for who she is.  :D  ya kno...just a suggestion

Her singing voice has a certain similarities to Mariah, especially when she hits certain notes but, she's not trying to sound like her though, she isn't the next MC, she'll be remembered as the Ariana Grande the princess of Pop & B.
