To be fair normally you’d just use archers in spread out formation cos of mangonels/nest of bees etc.. only time they are usually this packer is when you forget to spread them out

When you bring a bow to a melee fight and still eliminate 99% thats still a win for archers. Although if the troops were split into 2 lines or groups, they had better use of their bows
