The level Federer displayed from 2004-2009 was just out of this world

Specifically at the US Open I think 2006 Federer was the best, he was hitting so commandingly off both sides

I love how federer doesnt put his hand to his ear and force the crowd to cheer for him more and louder after every point. He just stays cool and calm and lets his magic speak for itself

What makes Roger so likeable is that he isn't celebrating himself after every winner, unlike the many of the guys today, like Alcaraz.

Watching Roger play is just like watching Ballet ❤

Roger's footwork and balance were unreal. As much as the strokes are pure, it's was the fluidity of his movement that made me a fan. No other players have the coordination and elegance of Roger. He could have played in a tuxedo and top hat and you wouldn't have thought it odd.

The greatest player who will ever play the game. Its incarnation and its forever gold standard. 😍

Worth pointing out that the 2006 US Open was the US Open where he lost the fewest sets in winning the tournament (2). Somewhat, interestingly 2015 was the only US Open that he did not lose a set before the final.

Federer had unreal shots, grace, precision, strenght of mind, kindness and he never made an enemy out of the public. He had it all whereas others are “”just”” more succesfull number wise… that’s why he is, for many, the best ever. It’s not about the numbers for many people😊

I love how at 5:00, 6:11 and 11:43 Kiefer and Hewitt turn around and stare back at Federer in disbelief for the shot he has just played

I have never seen a deep volley lobbed like that. 4:50 That is just extraordinary control. I thought I'd seen every kind of shot Federer has made. I was wrong.

What joy to watch, his strokes, creativity and ballet of movement, even ignoring results of who won. Roger’s game and greatness will never be duplicated. He gives more joy to watch above everyone. We all, given the choice, would choose to play like him over anyone else. LOL some of us actually do try. But to make a living or win majors everyone with lesser mortal skills and talent must use two hands, a western grip, and large lightweight powerful more forgiving racquets with polyester strings. Grand slam records will be broken again and again as careers get longer, but nobody will ever play like Roger while dominating. Long live the king, who will always hold and own the court, the entire court (not just the baseline 😀).

I’m still convinced 05 Fed was better than 06 Fed

Federer won 15 of his 20 Grand Slams between 2003 and 2009.

That win by Safin in Australian Open was even greater now with how awesome Federer that year

Classic Fed❤
The man is not a machine, and he is a beautiful tennis player. There are always going to be those that are the top in their field during certain periods of time and Fed never claimed to be the GOAT. That's sportscasters, fans etc., to keep that discussion/debate going. Agassi, Connor, McEnroe, Bjorn, Sampras, Nadal, Joker, etc., all had their dominant times but, imo, Fed's classiness and effortless playing has him in a category alone

Prime Fed was a different beast. Nobody played like him. Greatest player ever

If they didn't slow the courts globally this guy could have had 30 slams.

I have never seen live these matches, but I have often had the feeling that levelwise, Federer may have been played better then in 2006 where he won one more major.
