I find the videos very helpful, but i feel that towards the end of many of your math examples the instructor often skips key steps to understanding the concept: E.G ... When finding the VOL instead of converting the VOL RESULT of  127, 018 GAL to .127 MG, why not keep it at 127, 018 GAL for VOL.

For FLOW, take 1MGD, and simplify it  such as:

1MGD = (1, 000, 000 GAL/DAY) * ( DAY/ 24 HRS) = 41, 666 GAL/HR for FLOW

PUTTING IT TOGETHER:

DT = VOL ( GAL) / FLOW (GAL/HR)

DT = (127, 018 GAL) / (41, 666 GAL/ HR )

DETENTION (DT) = 3 HOURS

* another thing, write the units no matter how much of a given they may be- such as 8.34 Lbs/gal

How did you arrive at the formula to find volume of the tank ?

The easiest way I used to get operators to understand detention time was to describe as the time it takes to fill a tank at the stated flow.
