Normally I like Cycling videos but this was clearly click bait. They posted an almost identical video before. Just like the previous one, you watch the entire thing only to get an “I don’t know”. Are sales so down that you’re resorting to click baiting people into watching your entire video for add revenue?

the problem is there's no generalized carbon or metal frame. Each type of carbon fiber strand is different and have unique properties. If you use the stiff ones it will break sooner . Because stiffness and yield strength is different properties. I'm no material scientist but you could get the basic understanding from Wikipedia. But Let's get the basic questions, why use expensive bike on turbo trainer ?. Why not use cheap alloy frame with 10, 11 speed or whatever fancy your wallet ?. Having 2 bikes seems good option for most of us "serious" cyclists. One is for turbo trainer and the other one is for the road or off-road ( whatever suit your taste).

I am still waiting an answer from Fernwee's bike sponsor about letting their brand ambassador publish instagram post and YouTube videos with him on a trainer... and the the brand continuing says to their customers that their carbon bikes aren't design for that use.

Extra strain to the front wheel (because its not rotating) or fork ends (if mounted directly) is very evident. So is the rest of the frame as they cannot bend and flex as in real life road riding.

So I never mount my precious bike on a trainer. I used a cheap used steel frame and dialled to my body.

But one could easily get a stationary spinning bike and use it for basic conditioning at home in bad weathers. Else you should ideally just head out, shut up and ride!

Those hypocrite brands who let their pros on the trainers but not the customers, everyone knows who they are. Please don't buy their bikes.

Say what? An entire video with useless information. Get fact and do some testing. Make a video and proof it.

I've got two steel bikes, just use one of them if I get a turbo.

And what about the impact on the bottom bracket ? I expect to wear and require service more quickly. What is your 2c ?

I think that, if riders we have a good tecnich and if we train to have a smooth pedaling the frames will suffer very less damage than normal

i'm using a CX bike on my trainer, if it can't handle the turbo it definitely will have trouble with cyclocross racing

....maybe spend less time on your 'weasel tactics', and dull outdoor vloging during a national lockdown, and put a little more effort into your content.

Since the so called experts can not come to an agreement on this subject, I will not put my carbon bike on a trainer. It cost too much to to take this risk. All carbons are not the same. Unless you buy the bike new, you have no warranty.

Not all carbon is the same. As in motor racing carbon frame components tend te loose stiffness on extreme power. The same counts for the relatively very light carbon bike frames whenever fixed in a turbo trainer and pulling real sprints, force on the bracket. Some frames even get small cracks in the carbon in this kind of usage.
What manufacturers are telling younis just bullshit, what else do you espect them to say. This video is useless and typically for content hunters just tomdeliver content, useless content.

Prefer a metal farme bike than a carbon one on the turbo less flex more rigid better at putting the power down
