I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 10 years (grew up very poor), I had an incredibly traumatic experience the first and last time I went, and my parents never taught me proper dental hygiene. Funny enough, my parents are under 60 and have full sets of dentures.
I recently had my first quadrant deep cleaned/scaled by a new dentist, and I can’t even explain how good I already feel. I was so scared, but everything has gone amazingly so far. I’m currently buying my first electric toothbrush, waterpick, tons and tons of string floss, I’m going all out!
For anyone who needs to go see their dentist but is too scared, I promise you it is worth it. I PROMISE. That fear quickly melts away once you realize what a service you’re doing for yourself, and how much you’re taking care of yourself. Your body will thank you. ♥️

For most of my life I was fine just brushing and flossing, then I had some health issues. Afterward I had bone loss and gum recession. (6years ago)
I started doing a similar routine as yours. I was able to stop the bone loss and many areas of my gums have returned close to normal. My dentist was super impressed how clean my teeth were at my last visit, and that the bone loss has been stopped.
My routine is: either water floss or string floss, regular toothbrush, then rotodent toothbrush, then interdental brushes dipped in either mouthwash, or toothpaste. Dipping them makes a very big difference.
It takes time but it is really worth it! 6 years ago I was told it would cost $20, 000 or more to restore my bones and gums. 6 years later I go back to a dentist and I didn’t even need a deep cleaning :)

Your videos are full of great info, and entertaining.

This whole routine should be taught in school, absolutely must, because no one has ever taught me except brushing

As someone who had a mother who did dentist, and instilled none of the habits to us or even encourage basic brushing, I really appreciate learning all this stuff. Hopefully it isn't too late (lots of gum regression, but can't afford a dental visit with insurance..)

I'm so glad you made this video. Here's why, and it's not because it benefits me. I got very lucky, and attended a really great public school in elementary school that taught me all about dental care, right down to the name of each tooth, in the 4th grade, and how to brush, floss, use disclosing tablets once a month, etc. However, as a 50+-year-old woman today, I'm surprised how many adults do NOT ever learn how to take care of their teeth, or why it's important for heart health and general immune health.

I think of all the kids who grow up in neglectful homes, with abusive, addicted, emotionally mature, or ignorant primary caregivers, and pretty much have to raise themselves because no adult is raising them. I think of all the children in foster care, and even those who are homeschooled who never learn these things because it's not part of the "creationist" curriculum.

You may or may not be aware, but you are probably helping a lot of kids and adults alike, who never had a nurturing, caring parent in their home, or were raised by the human equivalent of sharks that didn't care about their own child, much less their child's teeth and overall health.

You're really doing great public service, and your video are friends and accessible. Just wanted to say thank you for being a positive role model and global citizen.

Love the science bathroom. This is a great example of the many tools that can be optionally used at home to prevent cavities and gum diseases.
Also for those living in areas without Fluoride in the water, (eg UK) it’s important to brush with a fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash LAST and not rinse the mouth or drink or eat for 20-30 mins. (Spit out the toothpaste and mouthwash immediately after brush/mouthwash).

So by the time you're done with your routine, you're in bed by 3 or 4 am?

I have binged your videos for a couple of hours now. Since I randomly came by your channel. Didn't even search for this topic. I just sat down to kill time on Youtube. But here I am now.
Never before have I been more motivated to perfectionate my dental hygiene than I have become now! I will give regular flossing another go instead of the floss picks. I will also look for a better electronic toothbrush, proxy brush and possibly a water flosser. You have an incredible attitude about this topic which is extremely motivating to me. I really love your work!

Hi! Thanks for the updated PM routine. In your AM routine, could you please talk about brushing teeth before eating breakfast so food doesn’t cling to biofilm developed overnight? Thanks.
