It's Iron Maiden for me. Tbh it would be hard for anyone to do a better cover than the original but Kudos to Nemophila for having the confidence to cover it. They're rising fast :)

Iron Maiden practicing this for 40 years, Nemo probably a week... Thumbs up for both teams. Good job.

I've loved hearing The Trooper for the past 40 years and seeing Maiden here, I have to say that they still seem to have it going by the reaction of the crowd and seeing how much the band are smiling and enjoying themselves. But then I see Nemophila having as much fun and slamming out the music and vocals while all alone in a studio with no audience to inspire and perform to. So this should be a hard choice but I give it to Nemophila. Why? Partly because, since I first discovered Babymetal in 2017 and Band-Maid in 2018 and Nemophila last year - as well as a wealth of other Japanese artists over the past 5 orr 6 years - I've had my love of Rock and Metal return after a 20 year EDM-centred hiatus. For me, the last western Metal band to impress me was Slipknot - back in the 20th century! - and maybe the Black Crowes in the Rock world at the beginning of the 21st century. But, at 61, I'm glad to see that Rock and Metal is still alive and thriving in Japan, if not here, and to know that - much as I still love the likes of Zappa, Floyd, Jimi, Zep and others - there is fresh, new Rock and Metal out there and hopefully there will be forever. Which is an odd statement considering they were covering an old song! But I'm glad to see tem inspired by, and still loving, the old stuff.

A valiant effort by Nemophila, but I gotta say Maiden by a short head ! 🤘🤘

Remember Iron Maiden wrote this song when they were 22/23 years old. Nemo, despite appearances are 29/30 year, and are accomplished musicians. The sound of the instruments, and synergy within the recording studio, will have improved and technology also.

Despite that, this is the best version of trooper I have heard From a Recording studio, by Nemo. I think this is better than the maiden recording studio version, The sound is clearly more Crisp .But maidens best performances are always live.

IRON MAIDEN is my life band and I'll say NEMOPHILA absolutely did this justice. Love it. Yep, likely a one-take recording and they left in the slight mistakes. HARA 8:13 knows this song very very well I'll say. Late on the transition fill and they all rolled with it making it sound totally normal UP THE IRONS !!! 🤘😁🤘

Hmm, I've been thinking for a few minutes if I should say anything at all, because I was never or never will be a big Maiden fan. BUT, of course, I know and respect the influence and importance they have for the genre. Nevertheless, I don't judge this comparison in favour of Maiden just because it's Maiden. To my ears, Nemophila's version simply appeals more. The sound of the instruments sounds more in tune with each other to my ears, and I also prefer Mayu's voice, which to me just has so much more character.
Regarding mistakes, and I know I will make a lot of enemies here, but the solo part of Maiden just sounded completely messed up to me. Both the timing and the notes didn't fit at all, in my opinion. Whether it was because of the increased speed or because some show-off mentality came through, I don't know. I'm not a musician either and can only talk about how my ears perceive it. In this respect, a comparison of live vs. studio live is certainly not exactly fair.
Ratings aside, I still liked this comparison. Especially with classic songs that have been around for so many years, I find it interesting to see them side by side with the current interpretation of an artist in one video.

no comparison with the voices bruce dominates. her voice sounds tinny. musically maiden is just better so i agree with you. the ladies do great covers and are a really good band but maiden is one of the greatest metal bands ever. have seen them almost every tour since 1980 (over 30 times) including oct 21 2022 this year coming up. as usual a great reaction and i like this kind of reaction you do with the covers. have a great day and still waiting for the new lovebites bass player

I prefer Nemophila their version is more clear in melody and harmonics, relax, happy faces...The Iron Maiden looks full of stresses in their faces.. Hahaha

I like Nemophila, but Maiden wins this one and it's not even close. Musically, Nemo pretty much does it by the numbers and doesn't mess up or anything, but Dickinson destroys Mayu on vocals. As far as Nemo coves go, I think they do a better job on Kurenai, Rosier, and Watashi Wa Arashi to name a few.

If possible, I should have compared the MVs with each other. In Journey Separatorways, there is a video that is being verified. The time was the same. Nemophila is making, in sync.I used translation software. I'm sorry if the grammar is weird.

Wow, it's a tie for me. Iron Maiden was my #1 band for a long time til I found Lovebites. Now, Vocals a slight nod to Mayu. Drums = tie Bass = tie . Guitars.. I will take you word Hazuki made a mistake there but I still think Nemophila's solo was better, I felt Iron Maiden was not quite in sync in a couple of places, does not mean they weren't, just felt that way to me. Over all, a tie.

excellent content Bobb-Metal, Maiden has always been one of my top bands, but, Nemophila is just plain awesome, and all the covers are better than the originals, but this one is a tie for me, the whoa parts go to the ladies and they did with one less guitarist, but Maiden is Maiden, yup it's a tie.

I really like you and your reactions. But the "which is better" or "who is better" questions are just too stupid! It always depends on the personal taste. Useless to ask.

I personnally give it to Nemophila for 2 reasons: first the vocals, I've never been a fan of Bruce voice and never got into Maiden mostly because of that. Secondly the guitar tones! Hazuki and Saki's tones just blend perfectly it's ridiculous and when it comes to Maiden I always felt that the guitars goes against each other and this is because 3 guitars is too much imo so I can't pick and listen to them individually.
Like this cover battle series a lot looking forward for he next one

Nemo's cover is much better compared to the original recording from the Piece of mind album this is what they worked from also they had only been playing as a group for a few months when they recorded it in the practise room .Maiden are now playing better than ever it will be interesting to see Nemo a few years down the road because there getting better and better Hazuki (who made a slight error ) is now a much better guitarist having played with Saki and Lisa X, also now playing live gigs there doing a lot of band practise at the moment for upcoming gigs .

No idea how anyone can side with Nemophilia in this. It's a good cover, but it's the same problem as with any modern cover of classic metal songs: They simply play the music Maiden have written, utilize a more modern production and a worse singer. The vocals in this suffer from a) Bruce being a better singer, period. From a technical standpoint, the original recording is obviously way better, but he added a ton of character and storytelling in his live performance. b) The singer obviously doesn't speak english and doesn't even really try to pronounce the words, opting for fantasy words that sound similar. A big strength of the original is Bruce's perfect diction. Also c) the voice sounds absolute artificial.

At the end of the day, Maiden wins because the song was written by Maiden, for Maiden, which means their prodtuction, vocals, instruments just fit the song way, way better.
