British people: "lol americans have such unnecessarily large engines in their cars"
Also British people: *put a merlin V12 in a lawnchair*

It's funny how at some point in the history someone said: "Let's attach a big-ass engine to a bathtub" and it was one of the best ideas ever.

It's really incredible and unbelieveable what speeds they reached already 100 years ago. Just imagine doing 180km/h in that naked Dirraq V8 or over 400 in that 6 wheeler Benz T80 in 1938😱

This Mercedes T80 looks gorgeous and sound is even better

Okay so it's not the T80, but at 7:59 at the bottom of the screen there is some kind of streamlined speed record car with some kind of giant forced induction aero engine running on a science fiction formula of synthetic liquids, generating thousands of horsepower and capable of running at hundreds of miles per hour. And at the top of the screen, there is a cart being pulled by a horse. The '30s must have been incredibly weird.

I love the Packard-Bentley setting off car alarms just by running :)

CORRECTION: The Mercedes in the video isn't the T80, unfortunately, it is other land speed record breaking Mercedes with a completely different engine. Really sorry about this situation. Besides that, the Napier-Bentley wins for me. How about you?

The T80 is a thing of beauty. Amazing machine, as all of the cars featured are.

The Napier lion was referred to as a “broad arrow” engine, not a W12 even though other later engines of similar configuration were often called W12’s. Just for your information, I happen to know the guy who built the Napier Bentley and I believe has now sold it on. Keep up the good work mate! Love the work you put into researching interesting engines and vehicles.

Jay Leno's Tank Car was 810hp BEFORE the turbo's were added...

All those really old Land speed record cars are scary. The drivers must have had huge balls. I wouldn't want to go 30kph in one of them with so skinny tires and what not, way to scary for me.

I love the irony of one horsepower going across the bridge above the Mercedes with 3000+hp lol.

In my 64 years of being a hardcore gearhead, with a small collection of awesome 60s 70s muscle cars, the Rolls knocks my socks off, Wish I was a billionaire, I would buy it at any price.. Kudos..
