The comment made by Gen. Groves at the legal hearing with Oppenheimer, on the Atomic Energy ct and the security issues around these great physicists: "But based on the AEA I wouldn't have hired ANY of those people" (and as a consequence, the American bomb would not have been built, the project would have failed) is very telling, and I'm fairly sure it's close to what he actually said.
