I am Japanese. Japan and Europe can jointly develop weapons, military technology and deep tech.
Japan will go along with the U.S., but we must not rely on the U.S. alone, as we have done in the past.
Japan, Germany, France, UK, Sweden and Italy should cooperate with each other. Artificial intelligence, robotics, space exploration, cutting-edge medicine, laser fusion, quantum computing, and deep tech such as cultured meat are also important technologies.

You didnt mention tens of billions euros we payed for American weapons. We can spend that money here in EU. So our economy will be much stronger. Not to mention technological advances.

literally this is what economists were pointing in the Greek-Eurocrisis.. Well done, it took Europe only 15 years.

In terms of immigration- I have a phd in psychology and my partner works as a statistician for medical research. We were in the process of applying to move the USA, however we have adjusted our plans and now are searching for jobs in the EU.

Make no mistake, some will boldly argue trump was playing 4D chess to make our allies stronger 😂

It is weird to have Finland shown as low debt economy when through my entire lifetime politicians, media and people just around me on the streets, schools and workplaces have been really concerned how high our debt is and how it keeps on getting worse and worse. Also the job market at least after the 2008 financial crisis has been just miserable.

It's so stupid this is what it took for Europe to do this. Outsourcing military will always be the dumbest thing a country can do

Honestly our government has no idea how people are suffering these days. I much feel sorry for the disabled people who don’t get the help they deserve

Couldn't agree more . When i watched the Zelensky-Trump meeting, after the desesperation/rage, the very first thought i had was that if we are playing our cards right ( it's a game card for trump ) and finnally achieve a common political/economical/defense goal, Europe will become a real superpower and we will finally be able to engage trades and cooperation with countries we have been vetoed out from doing so

Is the diagram at 6:25 the wrong way around? Because you're saying 13 million unemployed people while it's showing 13 million troops needed

2 more assumptions you've made:
1: Europe will be united for the foreseeable future --> This is not at all given
2: Migration will not cause other issues --> yes it will solve the population crisis but arguably it is already causing massive political issues and driving divide in Europe

Furthermore, you've said nothing about energy. Its quite a problem right now and it will have to be solved somehow. I would also like to mention that the reason German factories are under utilized is the crisis of the German car industry. Worldwide German car brands are suffering. If their factories are repurposed they will have even less opportunity for a turn around. This will also impact the support industry for the car industry such as BOSCH.
The question is, what will happen to the German industry, if it lets its car industry fail? Will it still have the money to spend? If we use the defense industry to pull out of a recession, wouldn't it cause inflation regardless? The reason we have inflation right now, is that we don't have the products in the necessary numbers. If we fill our spare capacity with defense spending we still won't have the products, but people will have more money... which smells like inflation to me.

Personally, I'm incredibly worried about the future, and I'm sorry, but your arguments didn't really convince me otherwise. I do agree that in the long term Europe is better off not relying on anyone, however in my opinion it will take decades to get there.

But I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

to tell the truth, the meloni government does not want to go into debt for weapons, given that the italian public accounts are better than other european economies and the public debt is decreasing!

Outspend the EU on defense? This is blatantly false information. Russia might spend 120 BN a year, combined EU spends roughly 250-300 now. Comeon man.

great video otherwise

So basically, Europeans are not willing to give authority to manage Europe's economy as a whole, unless they are threatened by an external existential threat.

I suppose that's better than unwilling even faced with deadly threat.

I like that France kept the technical know-how across the spectrum, Germany's industries is under-used and Poland is buying everything they can, and the Nordics have the money; have German factories produce French gear to sell to Poland (and Ukraine) with Nordics money and we are golden.

Spending money does not make one less rich or more poor; mismanagement does.
Bringing in more manufacturing is not the same as a loss of capital.

I think you will be wrong but not in the way you think. The economy of Europe wont get better, by that i mean the living standards for middle class European will either drop or plateau in the best case. The reason for this is the defense stimulus will end up benefiting the rich class, just like covid stimulus had, and will further widen the wealth gap, and the middle class will shrink, since they won't be able to compete with asset prices with the rich.

This will be a repeat of 2020, so unless you have a defense company or a company that can take advantages of these new defense government contracts, you are out of luck. Defense spending is such a racket for all these elites, it's bloated and you can quote 10x the market price compared to private market. Money laundering for the rich. Unless we make sure the rich cant evades their taxes and pay their fair share, the root isue will remain.
