This video shows the value of cameras filming everything these days. I played village and local league cricket for 35 years and I can recall countless hilarious incidents that would easily make this video but of course, they weren't captured on film because most took place before we all had mobile phones to capture it on.

I liked the one where the old gents took a binding slip catch but could not get up afterward. That happens far too much when you get to my age. Your instinct takes over but for that half a second you forget how God damned old you are and quickly wish that you had let it go to the boundary. We all get there in the end.

I feel for the guy on the hat trick, and the guy that caught the ball with his face...
I had the opposite bit of luck for my one and only hat trick - first and 3rd balls were proper wickets, but the 2nd... Oh dear. It was a rank half tracker that the batsman absolutely hammered straight down Long on's throat, almost literally. The ball went more or less flat straight to the boundary, and the fielder at long on would have swallowed it if he hadn't caught it... 😆

I remember watching a match at the local park and a fielder spilled a catch because he couldn't get his ciggie into his mouth quickly enough. The best bowler was a girl who was terrifyingly quick. So quick that I heard a bats man plead " Don't do 'em hard!"
