You have to respect Mr Harris sr for his dedication to his craft especially when you see his poor hands riddled with arthritis and he is still working on those engines, that's a man who loves what he does with a passion so strong that even with his issues still works bloody hard, let's have a virtual round of applause for Mr Harris!!👍

Mk11 cortina 1600E was the best car back early 70's I had one that's why, upgraded to mk3 2000E later on...both were brilliant car's of the time...

Seems every ford mechanic expert in the country has tuned in to write an appraisal. What lovely people they must be to hang around with.

I had a GT.... it was my first car. 2nd hand.
The gearbox to this day, is still the best I've ever driven.
The twin choke Weber, a beautiful thrust when needed; and that's BEFORE fuel injection.

I had a 1970 1600GT in Bermuda blue, rebuilt mildly tuned, it was quicker than my Nephews Cortina mk3 2.0 GT, I loved that car

That looked superb. Now enough looking - get an airbox and proper air filter on there.

That Yellow Mk1 going sideways is amazing

As an American it is very impressive they can get this amount of power from such few CC. But, as an American it's hard to get my mind around a 170hp engine in such a light chassis because we rarely experience that.

I remember when the Mk 2 came out and it was advertised as having bowl in pistons ( which means cheaper cylinder heads ) and cross flow heads. It is not a true cross flow because the valves are in line thus limiting the size of the intake and exhaust ports and even the 1600 engine did not put out more than 80 hp. The Lotus twin cam put out about 120 hp which was a lot back in the day.

There's a "secret" here that runs across pretty much any business. Do whatever you do better than anyone else & you'll be successful. Try cutting corners, treat your customers poorly & don't do what you say you'll do & your business will be a failure - period. Too bad so many businesses today are only interested in a short-term money grab agenda.

The "go faster" stripes are truly horrible, and make a good car look like a naff, useless, clapped out boy racer, many of which we used to see in the early 70s on council estates.
