You can also make a hand mask using tumeric and mik. Milk contains anti bacterial properties and skin light benefits.

Filing the ridges is a serious damage, it's like a pleated sheet, if you file away the elecation there won't be an even surface, but a gap (or a very, very thin nail at the ridge spot)
It's not like a mountain that it has nail beneath it, its more like curved upwards, so filing it is the worst thing that can be done, try addressing the issue underlying instead.
