In film and television storytelling, our characters are usually wealthy, because that makes the story easier. If they suddenly need to fly across the world, stay in nice hotel, and so on, that makes the story very easy because they don't need to beg for time off. Their race and disposable income are not issues.

But in a crime story, it's totally different. The more wealthy and privileged they are, the harder it is to tell the story, because they can do what is impossible for most people.

They get caught on circumstantial evidence such as mobile technology data which would be a slam dunk if the defendant were poor and/or not White.

Confessed addict, confessed liar, confessed thief. It's not a big stretch to convicted murderer, and yet here we are, over a month later.

Even if he is not the trigger man, he's guilty as the Devil.
