What Does 'Eat My Flesh' Mean? (PART I)

PLEASE SHARE! Let's get as many Christians as we can talking about this topic!

In chapter 6 of John's Gospel, Jesus is quoted as having said the following:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

What does that mean? Is it literal, or is it definitely not literal? Join us, as we look at what the Bible says, and compare that to what a bunch of Protestant pastors are saying.

LISTEN TO THE NONSENSE THAT SIDE B IS SPEWING OUT
Make sure that you have your Bible out when listening to Side B, because they teach several things that are not found in the Bible. Make notes of what they are saying, and compare what they are saying to what the Bible says.

I am converting to Catholicism... Double predestination drove me away from protestanism HTBC got me interested in Catholicism. After 2ish months of research, I am going to call the parish tomorrow to inquire about talking to a priest and trying to get into RCIA. Thank you for helping me come home HTBC.

Almost a year ago my friend introduced me to this channel and not gonna lie, I found it annoying and demeaning when I was protestant but ya slowly grew on me and now I can say that I am now at the table and got my sacraments this Easter Vigil. So blessed to be part of the family now. And your videos have been really helpful in my journey Ferris, thank you!!

Please pray for me. I believe this teaching but was raised Protestant and my mom and many friends and family would be devastated and angry if I became Catholic.

I started hate watching HTBC (was a huge mike winger fan). But now im at a point where this video might be what makes me leave protestantism....if we are to go by scripture alone and scripture can be interpreted so many ways then it begs the question who has the right to interpret scripture correctly?
Since the catholic church claims such authority was given to them by Jesus i should proplaly look into it to see if its based in truth or not...

I know Jesus is the truth and i pray he wont leave me in confusions.

A Texas Southern Baptist, Bible Fundamentalist, here. I have walked with the Lord for many years. I have always presumed Side B to be correct. Essentially, I haven’t seen the need for Side A to be correct. And yet, I have always been disturbed by John 6. It goes on my short list of questions to ask our Lord. You have my attention. You may even be an answer to prayer. I am listening.

"if he meant it literally he would've said I'm being literal."

Yeah, and if he was speaking metaphorically he wouldn't have let them walk away thinking he was speaking literally.

The Eucharist is the reason I stayed Catholic. I also read the apostles didache, and saw that they Also had the Eucarist.

As a devout Roman Catholic, I've been tempted recently to change my flavor and become Orthodox because of the current corruption of the Vatican, but our shepherds need our prayers, not our rebellion. Peter, our first Pope screwed up far more than just once. He was called out for his hypocrisy by St Paul because he was behaving one way with Jewish Christians and another with Gentiles.

James White refuting himself while explaining the 'fundamental truths of exegesis' is just hilarious 😆

The thing that gets me is that the people who were actually there taught this as literal and so it went for more than 1500 years. And these guys think they can come along and change whats been taught from the beginning. "Yeah the apostles and early church got it wrong. We got it corrected though."

If there is doubt about the meaning of John Chapter 6, a simple solution is to ask what John taught his students. We know what he taught because it is recorded in a letter by St Ignatius of Antioch in 107 AD. St Ignatius belonged to Side A and expressly warns true Christians to resist Side B.

Your channel has really helped me understand Catholic theology alot! In fact, your channel was the first YouTube channel I've subscribed to that teaches Catholic aka Christian things. All the analogies & props you use to demonstrate your teachings or demonstrate the faulty logic of Protestant teachings are hilarious too! Prior to watching your videos, I had little understanding of Catholic Christian teachings, but when my dad introduced me to your channel in 2023, it cleared it up for me & helped me understand the Christian side & the flaws of Protestant teachings. Thank you!

Our parish has the verse above our altar. It's a good reminder of just who we are approaching in the Eucharist.

Someone just posted this on Twitter less than an hour after I finished watching this. What more evidence do you need?

"We have a lady at church that is terminally ill, she was literally 58 pounds. A grown woman, 58 pounds. She was baptized into the church early because of her imminent death, and we have been raising money for her funeral.

But since her baptism and first Eucharist she is getting BETTER.

That is all I know. Our priest notified us today. Please pray for her."

Her name is Kayla!

Subscribed. Even Francis Chan is coming around to the truth that the early church fathers knew, and that is the Truth found in the Eucharist.
