Signing Alonso would pretty much signal the end of the Vlad era in TO.

Vlad could and probably would play 3B in 2025 in this scenario. But Alonso would be his replacement for 2026. Couldn't have both full time for the next 3-5 years. Just isn't good roster construction

This is how they let Edwin walk……only this time with Vald as trading chips

Still amounts to nothing until Alonso actually signs. Same with Santander. Pointless to spend $300 million upgrades and not upgrade the team. And attendance was down last year.

Alonso would not make the Jays a power heavy team. Still need more bats for that and still need more bats for a good offense

I’ve said all along, why give Vladdy $35mil per year long term when you can sign guys like Alonso and others that hit .250 30-80 from 1B at around half the cost of Vladdy with a lot less risk related to a 10-15 year deal.

I said that they should have signed Alonso, extend Vlad at 3rd, and sign Teo, but Teo is gone now, so Santander now. Roki is a real possibility. Pete Walker is a great pitching coach. Unfortunately, Shatkins is in charge.

If Alsono is a Jay - Vladdy won't be.

You seem to forget that Shatkins have made it clear that they wanted to sign ONE bat and no more.

Still really want Santander but would take either he or Alonzo or both

Vladdy is not only home grown. Hes Canadian and heart of Jay's. Hes better then Sotto when hes at his best. That deal should been done already. I get why they want Pete. Vlad is way better for probably little more. Don't get the Jay's management. They are horrible.

Get Sasaki... then a 3 yr deal for Alonso. See if he will stagger the deal w back half money. Then trade for Arenado who has 3 yrs left on his deal that is loaded w front half money ... get Helsley and sign Santander and we are in buisness

I've always felt that This fanbase will owe the FO an apology. it's not obvious yet because they're a few steps ahead.

Everything will fall to them and not many may be prepared to outbid them short term..

It will be, again, up to the players to perform to their capabilities.

The mets just went from 101 wins to 75 wins, back to 89 (after being below .500 at a time).

It happens. No big deal.

Alonso would be a great signing. The Jays need some luck getting these guys.

Take every Jays news flash with a grain of salt.

Okay, let's assume that we sign Alonso and Santander...and no, I don't think it's going to happen. Where do they play? Vlad plays 3rd, which drives up the price that Shatkins hasn't met yet. Alonso plays first, where he's not a good fielder. Santander is the DH. That's not a great roster fit, especially with Vlad at 3rd. He's better at first.

It's also not a championship-calibre offense. It's a decent offense. It might even be a very good offense. But it's at best the offense you put out when you want to contend for the #5 or #6 seed. This doesn't do anything for me.

I think signing Alonzo would be as big a mistake as signing Bergman, they are on their downside of their career, I already cancelled Sportsnet not watching Jays this year, and Alonzo is not gonna sign with the Jays neither is Bergman

Be a great get in Alonso as he can swap 1st and dh with Vlad. People shit on Ross and he has earned some of that but he pulls deals out of his ass. IKF last year was a great deal but wasn't flashy. The players need to be consistent for the team to be good. 23 if hitters had done their job we would have been in playoffs. Last year the pitchers took a huge step backwards so it's not all on the front office.
