SCP-860 | Blue Key (SCP Orientation)

Today we will be studying Item number SCP-860: Blue Key, Object class: Safe.


SCP-860 is a dark blue key of unremarkable shape. At seemingly random intervals of time, a series of numbers, later found to be UTM coordinates, will appear on the key's blade.

SCP-860 can fit in any door lock that requires a key located in the area of the given coordinates, and will function identically to the correct key for that lock. When SCP-860 is used to unlock and open a door, the door does not lead to its usual destination. Instead, it opens into a small forest clearing centered on an 80 cm wide footpath, designated SCP-860-1. Every observation of this grove has noted the presence of blue-colored mist.

D-class are suppose to be death row inmates, and the two noted as having been murderers where met by something that sounds a lot like a werewolf, based on the limited description. Werewolves are supposed to be representative of humanity's berried savagery coming to the surface, so it almost seems like the blue key opens to some sort of ordeal. Face your inner evil and try to survive sort of thing? Still, I have no idea what to make of the xenophobe and volunteer, not to mention the drastic differences between the world generated for the volunteer and the D-class. Maybe it's because they volunteered while the others were effectively forced to go through it. As a result, the volunteer was given a choice of path to walk, while the others were only presented with the one option.

Note on exploration: subject's camera finds a large feline creature, with purple skin, and yellow eyes and biolumescent lines. Entity is hostile to subject. It seems this entity is a "guardian" of SCP-860-1, and seems to have a connection to it. Due to this, The entity will be designated SCP-860-2 -Dr. [Redacted] I don't know why there are anomalies that are part of the anomaly -me

still kinda wishing sub sets of the given SPC, such as in this case of SCP-860-1, the dash between the SPC number and the sub set is pronounced as SPC eight sixty dash one instead of SCP eight sixty one. As excellent listening material, any time this happens, this could lead to an initial confusion, especially as other SCPs that aren't the subject of the video have been mentioned, and casual listening might mislead that the key is SCP-860 and the path is SCP 861.

Wonder if there is a scale limit to this scp. Like would it work in a dollhouse door?

I wonder if this scp would react to a padlock on a door if the door was otherwise unlocked because it could be considered a door lock attached to a door that is usable. I'm not saying that it would work for certain I'm only saying that it follows the rules by a technicality.
