This video is the closest thing to turning me vegan

The cow sees the farmer milk, build, and feed.
She comes to the realization that it's all thanks to hands (when it opens the door). She knows that her hooves can't do these things and that she's stuck.

She imagines herself magically growing hands and she does everything the farmer did.
She can milk, build, feed, and even open the door to the exit.

However, she opens her eyes and accepts that there's nothing she can do about that and accepts her fate.

i think jack's purpose on earth was always to cause horror and calm simeltaneously

The most “horifying” part was the last few seconds of video. The dark snyth, the bolt gun and after all that we can imagine what happened. Beside that catchy song!

I don’t think Jack could make a extended version. No words in this song has more than 4 letters, and I think that’s intentional. If Jack were to extend it, than it wouldn’t be able (hehe) to have that factor, making the song lose itself.

Honestly, jacks stuff is such a good representation of trauma that others have experienced, even if that wasn’t the intended interpretation of this piece. I’m so glad I found u Jack, thanks for putting my feelings into videos

I like how the cow is milking itself.
Be a strong independent cow that don't need no farmer in its life

I would love a movie in your style of animation with your music being the soundtrack.

The video as I interpreted it, shows a cow with the naive notion that it is "unable" to do all the things that the man is "able" to do (milk the cow, build a shelter and prepare meals) because it doesn't possess the man's tool (his hands). While she's standing on the belt about to be shot by the bolt gun, she comes to the conclusion that if she were "able" as the man is, she wouldn't be killed, and so at the last second she closes her eyes and dreams a desperate dream of her growing human hands out of her useless hooves and is finally able to milk herself, use hammers, and literally save herself.
Cows are unintelligent animals, but they are very aware of the human's hands and recognize them as of great importance, as humans use them for everything they do. The fact that the song comes from the cows perspective (which is more believable thanks to how simple and short the words in the lyrics are) makes it all the more strong as a song.
Everything else is perfect, the song is catchy and poppy and escalates with tension as we near the end and then it vanishes with relief, and the video has very impactful and cold images (especially here 0:20)

As much as an extended version of this song would be killer, I think this is the song at it's full length. The story is done.

The cow realizes that it's going to get killed. To cope with this she creates a reality in its head where it's in control of the situation, turning itself into the farmer, a figure that it has seen being able (in the cow's perspective) to do whatever he wants at the farm

This is oddly horrifying, yet, satisfying. Thank you for the amazing music, Jack.

Ok I’m gonna gush about this: I’m mentally disabled and i keep coming back to this video ever since it came out. The heifer thinking about how she can, in fact, take care of herself, and doesnt actually need the farmer. Her confidence that she can be independent, and her resolution to take her life into her own hands. Only for her to be struck down in a cold, systematic way and probably cut up for meat. I get into a cycle of feeling like I’m able to do things, and that I can live a perfect, average, neurotypical life if i just make another list, see another councilor, keep denying the problem. The heifer thinks she can act exactly like the farmer, and even grow her own hands in a way. Sometimes I feel the same, like the underdeveloped or dopamine-deprived parts of my brain will just fix themselves and the problem will be solved. Even the title “able” really speaks to me. Its just a beautiful way of framing a feeling and an idea that I’m so familiar with. It doesnt offer a solution, it just communicates. I find that very nice, and somewhat refreshing.

Idk if jack knows how much his art actually helps people, but i hope he does.

this song having a full version would actually satisfy me for like 28835 days

I take it as a cow desperately trying and thinking of how to escape her fate, not having the Capacity to escape or the thumbs to be successful at it. In the end she accepts her death and calms her mind

Able

I can, I can, do I, do I? (La, la)
I do, I do, can I, can I? (La, la)
I can, I can, do I, do I? (La, la)
I do, I do, can I, can I, can I?

God no, no, god
Take my mind
I can take my mind and I'm fine, fine, fine, fine!
GOD NO, NO, GOD!
TAKE MY MIND
I CAN TAKE MY MIND AND I'M FINE!

Fun fact: every word in this song has four letters or less, even the title

I feel like this song wouldn't be as impactful if it were extended, since it's supposed to be the last few seconds of the cows' life, and having it last 3 minutes would take away from the sense of panic or incoming threat. On the other hand, a longer song could make an atmosphere of incoming dread, like the fear one feels a few hours before something bad will happen. A sort of slow burn, with the rising anxiety and tension. In the end, it's really up to the artist to choose what to do with their work.
