There have been hundreds of different Final Fantasy games released over the years, but not all of them have been winners. As Square Enix attempted to expand the franchise, they've produced some... dubious spin-offs and many of them did not end up being well received by fans.

I'm shocked that 14's 2010 release isn't on there, considering it was so bad it almost ended the franchise and they had to nuke it.

It really does bug me that A New Empire is still around while Opera Omnia and Record Keeper were shut down.

I hate that Dissidia is effectively dead now because of NT. I pray that someday they can port Duodecim to modern platforms.

I am still firm in the belief that Mobius came out too soon. Most people at the time of its release didn't have a good enough phone to run it. But its battle system, story, visual style and cutscenes were all things of quality.

In todays climate of things like Genshin Impact being somewhat standard now in mobile, Mobius would have been so much healthier if it had come out around 4 years later.

For one, the average person would have been able to play it. Most people I knew downloaded it, saw the opening install patch size, and said no. Those who let the install finish often found it ran terribly on their device.

Square's biggest lesson that they still haven't learned: STOP MAKING MOBILE GAMES. It's not that mobile games can't be good. They specifically can't make good ones. When they actually manage to make decent to good ones, those are the ones that get scrapped like Mobius or Opera Omnia. Every worst choice that can be made for the mobile sector in Square is implemented.

I know I'm a minority but I actually really liked FFII. I was shocked how dark it was as many characters died.

The progression system didn’t come out as well but coming from a lot of OG MMORPGs like Everquest and FFXI, I could really appreciate the attempt for others to utilize and get it right in the future.

Mobius FF mentioned! While glad the staff were able to continue in other projects, sad that Mobius did and still does have a chance to improve as a standalone product. I prefer the music over the story. People, the wiki editors, did wish the story was slightly revised, especially with certain elements in season 2. That meant pacing and character arcs. IMO, Vox is perfect.

Anyways:
"None shall remember those who do not fight..." May we meet and enjoy the world of Palamecia in whatever role we desire.

I think forcing the 3v3 in Dissidia NT was a terrible choice. Made it harder ro find games, and the AI teammates are atrocious.

First Soldier was *insanely* fun to play when it worked. Customizing your character, helicoptor, jeep/motorcycle, AND guns was really fun. The ranked play was great and the maps were *gigantic*. Diving into abandoned houses and buildings for loot and flying through Midgar on your bike felt amazing even on the phone, and in those quiet moments where you were just hunting down players was so slick. Like, clearly the devs knew what they wanted to implement and there were SO many cool things you could do with character classes and spells, like using a Gravity to slow down your enemy or using Aero to make a wind boost and get up super high for a sniper perch someone hadn't yet thought of. One of the best phone games I've played. Leveling up each class and having them come with different abilities and melee weapons made it like you were inventing your own Apex character. If felt cool as hell, for example, being a Dragoon with the 'High Jump' ability, finding a sniper rifle, then leaping to a high vantage point.

And then came the cash shop, which was the most... flabbergasting thing I've ever seen. You had to pull for each piece of armor and they were separated by gender so if you played a M avatar and you really wanted Cloud's outfit, you had better hope you got Clouds Male outfit and not the female one or vice versa. The gatcha was really difficult and it didn't help that the mobile-only game didn't expand it at all. What sucks is the -fashion- in the game, your weapons and armor, were really cool futuristic neo-tokyo like designs, colorful cyberpunk looks, as well as recognizable FF series armor and weapons.

I got so fed up with bots and really, REALLY terrible gatcha systems that I quit before EOS. But -seriously- there was a game there. I know they wont, but if Square Enix ported the game to PC / Consoles and touched it up a bit or reflected it with a different IP (for whatever reason), that game would be hot as hell. I think about it all the time and wish there was something else like it, even if it wasn't an FF game.

Honestly, with the amount of mobiles that SE closed over the course of a year, IDK what their plans are. Even if a game makes little profit, SE seems to throw out the entire IP and not learn from the bits that didn't work, or even the ones that really did work. It's a shame. First Soldier could have been wild on Steam.

i personally think FF2 is over hated. Sure it has its problems and flaws but never forget how old it is and how much unique ideas it brought to the franchise

I enjoyed FF Mobius and was thinking of eventually going back to play it. But they ended up ending service on it. I wish they would've kept the servers going even if they had stopped adding more content.

I'm so sad about Dissidia NT. Figured it would be on here.

I’m gutted Final Fantasy Explorers is on here! ;-; it was so dense with content and I had so much fun coming up with builds, and creating crazy skills/spells.

It was impressively challenging too, something I can’t say for a lot of Final Fantasy games. I didn’t realise people didn’t like it!

I wish there was finalk fantasy mobius offline, so we could play it when servers are down.

Mobius is pretty underrated, deserves atleast a 3/5. I enjoyed it personally and only stopped due to a difficulty/skill wall. Tried to pick it up later again and was actually sad to see it hit EoS

Now I'm really curious how Dissidia Opera Omnia (DFFOO) scored after seeing so many mobile games at the bottom. The game was really fun and extremely generous compared to any of their other mobile games, so it'd be fun to see where it landed.

I played FF2 for the first time on NES recently, and I liked it more than FF1

10:23 "only if NT can break new ground"

So they copied Gundam Versus but worse, and now there's no Dissidia for *anyone.* hope you're happy, Nomura.

A new Dissidia on Vita would have put a Vita in my hands. No wonder the system died so fast.

Urgh, Dissidia NT is a steaming piece of ...
It ruined a fantastic spin-off series :{
The only good thing it did was including Y'shtola... dont judge me.

FIrst Soldier should have been on consoles, i think it would've done better.

Hoping they return back to Final Fantasy Explorers and Dissida in the future. Especially when Final Fantasy Explorers has so much potential to be better.
