You don't need Speechify when you can do this for FREE!

Text-To-Speech (TTS) makes it possible to listen along while reading at the same time. Apple has built-in Neural Voices in iOS and iPadOS that is totally free to use on an iPad or iPhone. The feature is called Speak Screen and works flawlessly in both the Amazon Kindle app and Apple Books. And the voices is as natural speaking as in the very expensive service / app called Speechify. So you really don't need to pay hundreds of dollars to have excellent neural voices read the text up aloud for you while at the same time you can read along. It is all free and already built-in.

On a mac the default reading voice is super robotic, but you can go to the "System Settings" > "Spoken Content", and change the "System voice" to Siri and it will be much nicer.

Thank you! I am writing a book and I like to have the completed chapters read to me. I had been using the free version of Natural Reader and WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO PAY for the monthly service. I thank GOD that I come across your video!!!!

Thank you so much for this, sir.
I didn’t set up Siri on my iPad, because I didn’t think I would use it, but I may need to start using a medication I have used in the past that made my brain foggy when I read books, but there are no audiobooks for the series I am reading right now.
Perhaps it’s the moon attacking my emotions, but this helps me so much I almost cried.

What I like about Speechify is I can take a picture of something with text and it will read it out to me. I don’t know if the built-in Apple one does that but nothing is better than having Snoop Dogg. Read your text messages to you or read a book it is hilarious.

If you think about it, Audible is $15/month. This is actually competitive pricing. Considering you can upload whatever (even pirated books).

I will have to try this! I actually prefer reading books on my iPad over my Kindle. I think I’m one of the few ereaders who prefers that lol.
