This is my story, and in a way, everyone’s story. Life – we are all just trying to be happy. People are baffled that I can be happy after almost 30 years with ALS. Even I sometimes wonder how it is possible. This song is the simple answer. Most of this video takes place in my mind. I am talking to myself, looking for answers, thinking about the past and some of the people I love, and it all comes out in music.

Lyrics:
When I was young and full of wonder
The universe was tender
Every dream I had would come true
Music was my worldview
Hearts fell at my feet
Each breath was so sweet
Life was complete

Now the past is over
I was cut down much too soon
I can’t speak, I can’t play
But this flesh has much more to say
I wave good-bye
To yesterday’s highs
Life has other plans

Love and confusion
Peace and destruction
What is the point of it all
Why must we all feel small
Our hearts are not toys
We just want real joy
Life’s just a dream

You ask me this question
Due to my unfortunate fate
How can you carry on
Without feeling hate
Love brings light to the darkness inside
Love’s the voice that sings “hold on!”

Hold on, hold on
Hold on to love

Hold on, hold on
Hold on to me

After listening this song, I swear I will NEVER again complain about having no time to play the guitar. No matter the hour, I will keep my routine even if I don't get the 5% of the technique and abilites that Jason has with his guitar. Congratulations Jason, you are pure light to all musicians in this Earth and this generation.

Sir, you are a better man than i could dream of ever been. This seriously brought a lump to my throat and a tear too my eye. I bought this album and i hope everyone else does. My mind just can't comprehend what you've gone through. Everyday must be like living in prison inside yourself and still you push on and move forward. You blow my mind sir.

Your whole family is just beautiful, I wish them all the best. Please keep filling the world with your beautiful music.

Jason,  I am also a handicapped person suffering from lower limb paralysis. You are my inspiration,  my idol. I have been a die hard fan of you since I heard your music for the first time

playing guitar is the only way i feel like reality is real. i would be destroyed if i lost the use of my hands because i couldnt write anymore.

but youve shown me that im so if music really is in my core, than theres nothing that can stop me from writing.

I love how Jason can release super shred metal, orchestral masterpieces, or an R&B ballad and his fans are just happy to experience his brilliance no matter what the genre. One of the best musicians this world has known with one of the most awesome fan bases!

We all complain sometimes. So when you think life is unfair to you, think"Jason Becker" everything given, everything taken. But... He is still fighting, holding on, never letting go. And through it all, and one more time, he delivers us a masterpiece... Just an example for us all. Hold on Jason, don't let go

Amazing vocalist, amazing guitarist, but most of all: Amazing composer!

I have personally seen someone die from ALS within a year. It's a horrible disease but the way you handel it is truly inspirational.

Nothing but respect for you Jason, you are a truly inspirational man.
