Honor 7S Review- is a Sleek $110 Android Phone Too Good to Be True?

Lisa Gade reviews the Honor 7S, one of the brand’s least expensive phones to date, priced around $110 / 110 Euros. Honor is a Huawei sub-brand, and they’ve made stylish mid-priced Android unlocked GSM smartphones in the past. The Honor 7S has a slim and nice looking metal casing, a 5.45” widescreen 18:9 aspect ratio 1440 x 720 IPS display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 4G LTE, FM radio, GPS, 2.4 GHz WiFI, a microSD card slot and dual nano SIM card slots. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 and the 1.5 GHz quad core MediaTek 6739 processor. It has a 5MP front camera and 13MP rear camera.

I love how the cat appears to have attacked her when she was taking pictures, guess the cat does not approve of this phone.

Thanks for the review. Once because of your review I bought a ZTE Max phone for $79 from Best Buy! It turned to be a surprisingly useful phone. I do everything except gaming and it met my needs. Apparently the Honor 7S is not that type of budget phone and now people know, thanks.

Got this phone the other day, it's really great if you don't want anything super fancy and something that just functions well. I highly recommend it if you're looking to buy one.

Hey Lisa, thanks for another honest review. I was wondering if you could do a review on the honor 8x. I'd really like to get your take on it.

Zte z11 Max I bought more than a year ago costs 200 bucks of AliExpress. Look up the reviews and specs. Best value phone ive ever seen. It's definitely worth checking out Chinese manufactures phones that give a lot of bang for your bucks

I respect the hell out of you for specifically reviewing this phone to illustrate just how bad the value proposition is. That browsing performance seems about the same as my iPhone 4 was, and that was approaching a decade ago...things like this shouldn't exist. Budget phones are great, but 110 isn't even cheap. It's enough to get a Galaxy S6 used on Facebook if you look hard enough.

Lisa, would you do a review on the new Gigaset GS185 phone? It’s their first smartphone and it is interesting what to expect...

You should show how well phones use the assistant features (google now) and GPS mapping, which are more important then gaming on low end phones. Those two features are a must have these days, and if a phone can't perform those tasks, it should be avoided.

Nice review for a phone that has a purpose to serve. It may not be a 1at world phone but it is a phone that can serve. Thanks

500+ US bucks seem to be the sweet spot for a phone that'll keep consumers happy for 2 years.

This was a bit of an eye opener. I'm running on a VZ S6 Edge+ from 2015 due to breaking the ASUS phone I got last year. Eagerly awaiting my Note 9 preorder to ship out. It's plenty fast, no complaints other than 32GB internal only and I'm stuck on Android 7.0... There is no reason Samsung shouldn't extend software updates to 4-5 years (one of the things I like that Apple does) when the devices are clearly capable. The specs on my machine far surpass this brand new phone, but it can run Oreo? Also battery sizes, Samsung/Google/other major OEMs need to ship flagships with 4500+ mah batteries. Clearly they can be made slim enough while still having high capacities. There's no reason we should have brand new or slightly aging flagship, premium devices that get tied to the socket after moderate us. My guess is they plan on smaller battery degradation to force people to upgrade.

sd450 should be the lowest one should even consider when looking for android smartphones in 2018, and sd 636 or above are recommended, you can easily get good devices with these soc in the online market between $150-$250. Yet i know not all phones are available at good prices in all countries, thanks to govt regulations. In my country almost all android devices are available on par with the global prices if not lower, but iphones are almost 25-40% expensive then the global pricing.
