4.0L, 10.5:1 CR @ 1.2 bar boost -->> 650Nm @ 1, 450 ~ 4, 750 rpm
with these info, actually i expect alot more. i think they are trying to be very safe on tuning, ignition, cam profile, fuel/air ratio

V8 engines are the best in the world, that is if it's a German engineered V8.

yes but even in 2022 they were still using the M159 in motorsports applications, for track use the M159 is more durable, it's a fact..

Why the compression ratio is low - rated at 10.5 for such a relatively big cylinder bore ?

Mercedes really engineered a great motor, however it should be noted that BMW has already engineered this, albeit less powerful in standard production, in 2009 with the N63 motor. Used Piezo fuel injection at up to 200 bar, had air-to-coolant charge air coolers and reverse air flow through the heads for quicker turbo spooling. This isn't new tech. Not even close. BMW realized the fuel quality here was not refined enough for Piezo injectors so they did the smart thing and switched back to Solenoid type, and made gobs more power plus reliability with that setup.
