German Battleship Scharnhorst 1943 Flyhawk 1/700

Battleship Scharnhorst was commissioned on 7 January 1939. Scharnhorst and her sister ship, Gneisenau operated together during the beginning of World War II. Participated in invasion of Norway (Operation Weserübung 1940) and sank British Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Glorious. She was sunk by HMS Duke of York in Battle of North Cape (26 December 1943)

Did you use all the photo etch that came with the kit. What about the metal gun barrels? I was surprised how clean and crisp the plastic molded parts were in this kit. A big step up in detail from years ago when 1:700 scale became popular.

Very nice build. Late to the show but that is okay! I just got this kit in the mail today and I have to say I was blown away by the detail and just how tiny a lot of the pieces are! The deluxe kit is definitely worth it but I'm not sure I am going to use the brass barrels on the guns for anything but the turrets and maybe the larger secondary guns. The barrels are just too tiny to risk fiddling around with. The photo etch looks to be fairly straightforward. So glad Flyhawk doesn't make you build the AA guns out of etch! How long did it take you to fully construct?
