These quotes were taken out of context and are being spun out of context. It is a legitimate rhetorical question for an agent to ask in deciding how to proceed. "Are we looking for truth, are we looking for an admission, or are we just trying to get him to lie so that we can catch him." The implication is that if it is just the latter, we shouldn't be doing it. It is also legitimate to talk about how the questioning of a high level official will be perceived, whether it is legitimate questioning or if it will be seen as manipulating or "playing" him.
