Rule #1: Never tell your wife you bought a new watch, and never how much you paid for it.

If anyone who's not a watch nerd says "That's a nice watch" just say thanks. Continuing will lead to vacant looks, glazed eyes, and the other person looking at the time on their phone, and telling you they must rush to a dental appointment they've just invented.

There's an exception on the "don't wear your watch over you clothing" rule: if you're wearing a skintight neoprene diving suit, air tanks, weighted belt, mask, and flippers, and you're going to dive into an actual body of water. If this outfit is your sartorial choice for taking the bus to Ealing do not wear your watch over the suit, it'll look silly.

ALWAYS compliment on other people's watches. Even if it's an Invicta!
One day one of them might return it and ask about YOUR watch! (I can't wait!!!)

Rule 1: Never talk about the watch club.🤐
Rule 2: Never get high on your own suply.🤤
Rule 3: Don't buy a Rolex and a G-Shock to your collection only to think that you can judge now about everyones watch taste.☝🧐
Rule 4: Don't try to compete with your watch collection with a watch museum.

The «Looking at the watch during conversation» can be a powerful tool. At work people tend to trap me between meetings, in the hallways or at the coffee machine. This is a non-scheduled meeting, I have limited time. If its so important they can send an E-Mail or book an actual meeting.

One glance at the watch and they know they’re stealing time. On the flipside it gives the watch another function than timetelling, its a symbol, to get in line, that there are other more important matters.

This was very entertaining - I especially connected with the "too tight/loose" watch on the wrist. It triggers me so bad, and it really shouldn't...but it does 😅

* Adventure travel and expensive watches don't mix.
* Never buy a watch from a television shopping channel.
* Don't discuss your watch with a potential girlfriend (unless it's Jenni or Britt).

One person who notoriously wore watches outside of his shirt cuff was Gianni Agnelli, once president of such enterprises as FIAT, Scuderia Ferrari and Juventus, but I think it was more like "I have enough money to do whatever tf I want". Your comment grouping the esthetics of AP, RM and Hublot was so funny (mainly because it is also very true).

Re:Rule Number 3, Fitbit actually solved this for me! They make a model called the Luxe which is thin and can get thin bracelet-like attachments to make it fit nicely in a bracelet stack on the opposite wrist. Then you can turn off the always on display (so you have to aggressively tap it to see the time), and turn off notifications. Now, I basically just use it for fitness and sleep tracking and still wear a mechanical watch regularly.

Other than "commander" and Saturn V, also you can wear your watch over the shirt sleeve if your title is "Lawyer" and your name is "Gianni Agnelli", who famously wore both his ploprof and his Patek 1415hu over the sleeve (and he was doing it in order to avoid the sleeve to be consumed rubbing against the watch). Oh, and who also owned Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Innocenti, Autobianchi etc etc...
My rule? Try to associate colors well: and no, black boots don't go well with blue belt and brown strap. So, belt/shoes/strap should be, if not the same color, at least be well amalgamated.

You are a comedian coupled with your watch expertise is truly entertaining! It’s really refreshing to have someone that is so knowledgeable about time pieces not being so snobbish and condescending! Thank you!

Maaan! I loved this video! 😂🙈 I’m afraid I’ve broken 1 & 2. I love wearing my Cartier tank a bit more loose! The tank solo on the bracelet can feel more like pretty jewellery so sometimes I wear it loose. 🙈 and for number 2, when I’m cycling I love wearing my watch over my sleeve! Then I can actually see the time without moving extra tight lycra! 😂🙈

Rule #1 Always keep your Vostok on a winder. Makes them more accurate after a year and easier than setting the date when you haven't worn it for awhile.
