This is a nice analysis.
Now I realized that to create a "small S-shape" is better to be initiated by starting to1) keep the upper torso straight 2) Right after the head enters the water, push chest down, and then butt will go up.

Amazing kick! Also he has the perfect arm size for swimming!

He had so much flexibility in his shoulders he could accomplish bent arm recovery and reentry which actually allowed him to start his pull sooner.

Great Take. 1-thing tho. Phelps used to swim with a straight arm recovery. At some point he changed. I changed mine from a straight arm recovery to a bent arm for one reason, which led to the second reason: World champs 2013 50m fly. The men were sprinting with a high elbow recovery. This does 2 things:
1) fingertips enter first=less bubbles on the hands
2) less bubbles on the hands + arms already in the high elbow catch allows the athlete to go straight into their next pull. Skips the part of the stroke where you have to set the catch before you pull.

I forget when he changed it, but it was pretty noticeable. I want to say that it was after the '13 Barcelona champs.
Smart exchange: slightly shorter stroke, hold more water, produce less negative propulsion (elbows higher), get into the next stroke earlier

Edit: yup, you have the pre-high elbow recovery michael @ 7:48. Look at the bubble action around his hands/arms--yuck

It's interesting that you mentioned amplitude. I do backward dolphin kick And I realized that in order to get the speed going you started out with a wider wave and then working to short in the wave as you gain speed.

Michael es unico, su cuerpo aerodinamico le da una enorme ventaja con respecto a los ateltas que se pudieran acercar a su nivel.

Ours` swimming coach never told us to kick upward too much, maybe because this engages the hamstring and is prerequisite for cramps.
Our's Best swimming advice which Swimming coaches and Lifeguards should remind, beginners, even advanced swimmers is to use the Swimming fins and swimming board by the shore, instead going further in the sea, is what would dramatically reduce accidents and enjoy faster swimming.

Excellent never knew up-ward propulsion existed but it does on a flat body Butterfly position, more skills to add on 🙂👍

You can explain amplitude much better as the height of the "sine wave" (both up and down) from its zero line.

I would like to know which one is better for arms entry, is it shoulder width or should the arms be a bit closer and open before pushing?
Help please!

No comment by you on how his hands travel under his body during the pull. They are almost touching. This varies from other videos of yours in which you don't favor that travel but advocate a wider spread, essentially a high elbow free-style pull .
