First concert I ever went to was in 1963 at the Loews Theatre in Providence, RI to see the Four Seasons live. Double dated with my HS sweetheart a another couple. Just the four of them on stage with and small electric piano. They were fantastic. They were my favorite group. They were able to hold off the Beatles for awhile.
Those were the days! Everything was in front of us all. America was at the height of it’s power. Jobs were plentiful. College was attainable for those kids who never dreamed they could go to college. Home ownership boomed. The GI Bill helped pay for college and getting a mortgage on your first home.
That year of 63 our world was shocked by the assignation of JFK. Then the debacle of our involvement in Vietnam, where I served as a US Marine. It has been a slow death ride for our country ever since. I am 77 now and have had a great life. Business success, great family but I worry that my grandchildren will never have the opportunities I had.
This once great country is done for.

I remember my dad playing this song in the car on the way to school in the AM. It was on a tape called "Cruising to the 60s!" I ❤️ this song bc it reminds me of good times. RIP Daddy 🙏🏾

There is something timeless and good about sixties music that no other era has ever been able to quite match.

1966年生まれの日本人です。
60年代の名曲と思います。

日本の文化の中でも、この曲は受け入れられていたと思います。
日本では、憧れの音楽だったとも思いました。

When I was small in the early 2000’s in south Florida, my dad would take me to Parrot Jungle (now Pinecrest Gardens) almost every Saturday. My dad played me this song (and other 60’s songs) all the time.. I totally pictured Frankie Valli’s voice coming from a big scary parrot in this song, to be honest! Kids! 😂 So fond of those memories of that simple, “happy without needing a reason” time. My dad was good at nurturing that for me as a little kid. As a young adult, I’ve really gone back to the music my dad exposed me to before I hit the teen years. I remember snippets of so many songs, which my dad doesn’t even remember that I know them! I love it.
