When using a filter on a splitter with 2 inputs and 2 outputs: the filtered output is guaranteed to only be of the filtered material; the non-filtered output supply either of the 2 inputs, the non-filtered item always, and the filtered item when the dedicated output backs up. Got bitten by this with oil refineries on X-ray cracking.

One tip I learned that blew my mind is that you can place storage on top of splitters. The storage feeds to and from the splitter directly. You can also add a drone hat to the top of the storage which makes the splitter/storage/drone setup perfect for feeding factories.

Your factory looks so nice I have my red cubes automated now and idk what the conveyers do and I built the darn thing

the splitter tip i didn't know about.... diagonal lines doesn't look good, ill spend extra to have straight lines. another tip is you can manually collect large rocks on the starting planet to get early titanium before you leave the planet. you can then make hydrogen fuel cells which lasts longer than graphite. meaning you wont have to use up precious inventory space when you first go to another planet to get titanium and silicon ore. same thing with trees and bushes, you can get rare materials like organic crystals, which will give you a head start on yellow science cubes.
