Kenny Garrett 'Pushing The World Away' @Jazz_in_Marciac 2014

Considéré par certains comme l'un des plus grands saxophonistes de ces dernières années, Kenny Garrett, qui fut le dernier partenaire de Miles Davis sur cet instrument, s'est produit plusieurs fois sous le chapiteau, avec un succès jamais démenti. Pratiquant l'alto et le soprano, mais aussi, occasionnellement, la flûte, le voici à la tête d'un quintette homogène, composé de musiciens dont chacun possède une personalité affirmée et qui lui fournissent un tremplin idéal pour ses improvisations échevelées où se retrouve l'influence de John Coltrane. Très lyrique, influencée par la pop et aussi par la musique asiatique, comme en témoigne surtout son disque "Beyond The Wall" (2006), sa discographie comporte pas moins d'une douzaine d'albums en leader et de nombreuses participations en tant que sideman.
