In this video, I give you my vegetable garden plan for the new growing season by taking you on a tour around our veggie patch. Plus, I show you some new and exciting vegetable seed varieties that I am trying for the first time!

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane - the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let's get into it! Cheers, Mark :)

G'day Everyone, fair dinkum I had never heard of strawberry spinach but I'm super keen to try growing and eating it because if spinach gives Popeye big muscles well then what would strawberry spinach do?! Cheers :)

Spaghetti Squash is DELICIOUS! I love it when it is cooked and stringed up, then mixed with garlic and salt and olive oil. Also, Romanesco is pronounced roe-ma-nesco

Good'ay! New England, here all just melted down. Chills at night, but warm days, She's waking up and I'm seeing so many stems coming up to say Hi!

Hi Mark. Sophie here. Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for all of your hard work. I love watching your videos. You're not only informative and fun but you also have such passion about plants. I'm in central Texas and the recent ice storm killed almost all of my veggies (only herbs survived). Your video just gave me ideas on how I should layout my veggies garden this weekend. Can't wait. Thank you! 🤗

I love spaghetti squash! We call it winter squash because when harvested in late summer, it will store through the winter. We cut it in half long ways and bake it cut side down at 350° for about 45 minutes. Yummy.

Omg Birdies in NZ now! Thank you! Since your recommendation years ago, I’ve been trying to get them, even contacted them directly to find out if they distribute to New Zealand, and finally they do! ❤️❤️❤️

Spaghetti squash is fantastic! Seeing how your pumpkins are doing, they'll probably grow really well.
A tip on preparing those; cut them in half, scoop out the seeds and give 'em some oil, salt and pepper.
Then roast the halves in the oven on parchment paper with the open side down until tender.
Let them cool a bit and scrape out the flesh with a fork to combine it with what ever you want, like a meat sauce, sautéed mushrooms, cheese.
Put the mix back in the skins and those back in the oven for a while (open side up naturally) and presto, stuffed squash baskets!

My daughter and I love Spaghetti Squash. I have some in the garden growing. You can use it to replace pasta. We cook it in the microwave. We wash the outside of it, pierce it with a knife around the outside then put it in the microwave on high for 3 min intervals. When it gets soft it is ready to eat. You can put butter on it or you favorite sauce.

I know this was posted a whil ago, Mark, but how did you like the spagett squash? You might want to try baking it. Cut in half length-wise, season with salt and pepper, add a bit of butter (and a bit of honey if you like it a bit sweet), place cut-side down on a baking sheet, and bake until you can pierce through with a fork. The 'spagetti' will scrape out of the shell easily.

Hello Mark!!! I look forward to seeing each new video you make! I can vouch for the Vegetable Spaghetti 110% 😃 You know how full n bloated you feel after eating pasta made from wheat? Well after eating spag bol made with vegetable spaghetti, you feel light and refreshed! Just boil whole, cut in half lengthways, remove seeds, then gently remove the strands! While you are able to get them, you wont want to eat wheat made spag again! 😁 Unfortunately I have given up growing anything till this mouse plague is over. 😠

Hey Mike! Spaghetti squash is best roasted in the oven. Cut in half lengthwise and drizzle olive oil and some salt and pepper. Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes or so until tender at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Spaghetti squash is very good baked in the oven at 350F for 30 to 45 minutes. You don't need to cut it. But you can. If you cut it spice with the same spices for your dish. Freeze extra after you cook. Excellent as a pasta substitute. I am in the South state of Arkansas of United States.

I have grown spaghetti squash a few times and its easy to grow, its a good selection if there's kids involved. Easy to be successful, it can be prepared a number of ways. My favorite is to cut it open to clean the seeds out and fill the cavity with meat loaf and bake it long enough to cook the meat. Let it sit a few minutes and slice it from the side, its delicious, spaghetti squash is a good choice
