Bernie Sanders is absolutely right. The current insurance system is an administrative nightmare! Medicare for All is a practical sane simplification.
If you get really sick or get cancer you will learn first hand how true that is. I know first hand from the experiences of my closest loved one who died from cancer.
Staff in doctors offices and insurance companies have to negotiate over complex insurance options before you get important treatments. Patients have to choose among complicated plans.
The insurance nightmare is very stressful for very sick patients who already have major worries. They have to worry about whether they will get treatments they need and at what cost.

The huge misunderstanding that confronts the introduction of universal healthcare in America is the idea that it would necessarily come with a ban on private health insurance. That's not how it works. In Australia, we have medicare that covers all "basic" health care and emergency health care and private insurance for all the rest - if you are happy to pay for having an optional medical treatment, or going to a private hospital, you can still buy that if you want.
