My parents wanted us to assimilate, but still retain our Filipino culture. Thanksgiving dinner had the usual "American" food like turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans or broccoli, pumpkin pie and Filipino food like pancit and arroz valenciana. One year, my siblings wanted roast beef instead of turkey. Mom obliged. And according to Mom, my siblings were crying because it wasn't Thanksgiving without a turkey.

We just started doing the duck the same way as the turkey one year and it’s been a much better replacement

So yum but I'm sure with Peking duck they blow air under the skin to separate it from the flesh then they do all the other steps but still very yummy I'm sure
