Thanks so much for your support,
The adventure continues.
Safe sailing.

Boat:
White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built.

The camera gear:
Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached.
Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v.
Underwater video Gopro3plus.

Editing:
Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff!
There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access.

Content:
I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining.

Comments and being at sea:
I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.

I was wondering what's the old seadog doing, looked, and and it's this! Ah to sail. I'm buying a boat you know, soon, a cruiser, I'm sailing to adventure and I'm an oldsea dog too, but certainly not the original - that would be you Barry. The mantas made me weep for a moment, and that's a good thing as I thought, world, please love these creatures. Good job as usual. Fair winds mate.

At 12:55 Barry says plans to have sailed around the world ...please do, and the you should make a vid specifically aimed at those ridiculous flat earthers about how you didnt fall off the edge . Gorgeous Mantaray footage.... so magical, thank you ever so much, Barry .

Barry, hello from the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Your pacific crossing series was suggested to me. I watched it in awe, then I found your panama canal crossing and was watching backwards from there, HE HE. When I saw your 100th episode recap, I knew that I had to go back to the start. I subscribed and hit the notification bell. Which I have NEVER done before. Having just caught up I decided to leave a comment and I have to say your series has brought me to tears several times. Things that make me cry... Talking about realizing your boyhood dream "YEA BOYHOOD DREAM!", Talking about your parents and the help they gave you. The look on your face when the French jet buzzed you in the pacific to check on you, CHILLS MAN! After watching all that and knowing the journey that you never expected would happen. Seeing you look at Shaddy for the first time and say " I have to buy this boat". CRYING! By the way, I'm a 32 year old man not a 14 year old girl....
I have watched everything until this point and I am so proud of you and what you are doing. My girlfriend looks at me funny when I say things out loud like " Yea Barry!" or "Nice one Barr!". However, I catch her laughing at your jokes all the time.
I live in the mountains but I am learning to sail at 30 years old here in the lakes. One day I hope to follow in your footsteps. You have given me hope to achieve things when it is time. I love your attitude and wish you the best my friend!

Cheers!
Russ

P.S.
As an American I am now trying to say "awesome" less and "brilliant" MORE...

Hi there sailor, just came across your channel today Wednesday July 22nd, gotta tell you I like it you made me laughing when you were dancing on your boat, and I was sad when you were visited by the military aircraft, and just because of the many days one would be in the big sea would make him scare, but he’ll be on land eventually, that’s the way it is. You weren’t alone out there! Anyway you arrived finally and back to normal and back to yourself, thanks for sharing your sailing adventures, very nice videos sir like your guitar yay! So from my room here in Southern California, happy sailing adventures!

Those Manta days were surreal! Magnus and Wendy were super cool. Very excited to see the East coast of Oz from your perspective Barry. Spent a lot of time myself going up and down that coastline.
