Fox trying its luck with a hedgehog

A fox trying unsuccessfully to "access" a hedgehog before giving up. Foxes do sometimes kill and eat hedgehogs, but lack the muscle to break into them.

Note: This video was filmed on a remote camera in a garden where hedgehogs and foxes are free to come and go.

Once I was walking home and I saw this exact scene. The fox was really focused on the hedgehog so I thought I'd walk over, save the hedgehog and toss the fox some food that I had in my bag. Suddenly, out of nowhere a dog comes running down the street, scares off the fox and then proceeds to stand over the hedgehog as if protecting it. The hedgehog apparently knew the dog wasn't a threat, unraveled itself and started walking away. The dog literally escorted it across the road until it got into some bushes, and then quickly trotted off down the street that he came from. It was 2 am and no owner in sight. Some heroes don't wear capes :P
