As a youngster in UK I practically watched the VHS tape over and over until it could hardly work anymore. This film along with Predator and Terminator are the true golden years of Arnie and action movies. Best era ever to grow up in.

Fun fact! When I was a kid I took a trip to Hearst Castle one summer and while driving happened to see Arnold in full camp makeup and everything walking down by the beach during filming and it was unmistakable once the movie came out that it was THIS movie!

More trivia: I was in this movie in the motel scene. And I used to go to the Sunspot in the 80's when it had a dance club. At 8:02, you can see where the dance floor was ( far left side of the screen where the windows are). There wasn't a roof above the windows at the time (maybe an awning) so it was a great place to dance because you stayed cool due to the sea breeze. The Motel that Matrix and Cindy enter is on the right side of the screen. They built a small version of the motel entrance on the 20th Century Fox lot, where we shot the motel interior. I'm a big fan of the 80's Life channel and just happened upon this episode. Thanks for all the cool vids!

My father's best friend was the owner of the Harold Lloyd estate at the time of the shooting. I remember him calling my father laughing about the crew "blowing up" the back yard as they spoke. The interior scenes from the "Presidential Estate" were the actual interior of the house including the basement scene, although I believe a couple of the basement shots were done at the studio. The room where the president (actor Dan Hedaya) answers the phone an learns of Matrix's escape was known as "the music room" at the time of filming. Just some additional trivia.

I'm starting to think I'm the only guy in my 20s who grew up with this movie. Had a VHS tape that had Jean Claude Van Damme's Lionheart on it and then Commando started playing right after. Watched them almost every day as a kid.

I'm happy to say I used to work with the son of the bloke that owned the John Matrix cabin at the time of filming. They (father and son) actually built it together. He said Arnold was a great person on set and they had a really good time while they filmed there.

Fun fact about the swimming pool, it's entirely made of metal so apparently when filming in the morning, the water was freezing cold as the water would normally heat naturally by the afternoon.

What I truly appreciate about these videos are the lack of "extras" so to speak. No irritating music in the background, no distracting visual effects, just the plain content.

I watched the movie recently. From time to time i watch this incredible movie to feel like a careless child again. And then, i had the idea to check up on those filming locations. And of course is somebody out there with passion for a movie, checked it already out and shared that with fans.

You sir, did an amazing job with this one and thank you for all your effort and time to investigate, search, get there, film it, comment it, edit your material on the computer and finally upload and share it with us. That, we really appretiate it. Something personal. Tell your wife she don't have tell you how old you are for beeing passionate or childish about something. Thats absolute ok, because in todays world, there is all that stuff gone. Everything is so serious and strong. Problems everywhere and from every side. Be yourself man, do your things, what you like, with passion. And if you wanna hold up high that Matrix G.I.Joe figure (witch is amazing btw, i never seen that), than do it with passion and happyness. You are amazing. God bless you and your family. Commando was one of my favourite films as a kid (back in the day when you watched with your dad whatever film he brought home from the video store) and I have probably seen it 50 times since.
