+WMExperts - what is the Twitter notification app that you're using (pop-ups toward the end of the video)?

I switched from android - I was super into it I installed a custom rom every other week basically - anyway I love my WP7 and can't see moving back anytime soon. You won't regret it the user experience is just great. - Lumia 920 looks amazing thats the next WP I want to get too.

That might change though, considering the fact the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 run on the same kernel. And since like 97% of the people that have computers run Windows, developers are going to create games for Win8, which can very easily be tweaked to run on WP8 as well. Since WP8 also uses DirectX, which our PC's that run Windows use to handle the task like gaming, videos, etc. That means better gaming apps in my mind for mobile OS's as well.

Developers will develop wherever the money is at. And with Windows being the most used computer OS (like 97% of market), I see Windows 8 being on a lot of computers and tablets in the next year or 2. People will always be developing where ever the money is at. And if Windows 8 becomes really popular, then developers will make apps for it, which will run on WP8 as well.

It has a completely different UI to Android. While Android has a system with widgets and app symbols, this has both combined. According to WP7.5 the UI is only updated.
What I mean by combined: The tiles you can put on your mainscreen, update their information, so if you get a new message, it will show you the number of unread messages and (acc. to tile size) eventually a part of the text. You can also show that informaions on your lockscreen.
All in that it means, no Notification Bar needed. ;)

Wouldn't custom alert tone options (if they exist) be found in the people profile editor? Or the email options? Hopefully... Maybe...

Next thing is, that app developers on WP7.5 had problems making new apps, in WP8 there will be native code (C++ if I understood this right) support. Sure, Android already has this beside its special JavaVM, but WP8 will have the same kernel as Windows (desktop) 8, so it will be easier to port e.g. games from PC to phone.
Imagine CoD, Skyrim or simething like hat on a phone, would be pretty awesome. ;)

I thought exactly the same, what are your main reasons to go to wp8? Thx

Yes the UI. Big discussion. Not sure I like the limitations of Metro. I use W8 (final release) about a month now. So I got used to it, doesn't mean I like it. Yes "tiles" are "active" but this is just a gimmick, that Android with icons and widgets DOES in a different way (and less limited actually). Widgets have active information (for example unread messages and part of the text). They also can have their own buttons or whatever GUI element. Not just info.

That's because it's not out yet, so the market won't have been filled properly just yet. I would still wait till it's released. See what it's like, see what apps will then be out and what is to be released.

I've not opted for a new phone yet because I wanna play with one first, I love Android (Desire HD rooted) but I'm willing to give WP a chance.

Thats why a few comments above i said they could be on WP8 with tweaks, I kinda figured I didnt have to state that again. But Im just saying, developers will always go towards where the money is at, and that may be Win 8 soon

It depends on what you are using wifi for. The wifi only "turns off" if it is not being used when the screen shuts off. I can be downloading an app via wifi turn my screen off and wifi will download the app while the screen is off.

I actually like how the Nokia WM phones look a lot. I like how the OS works I'm just not very convinced that Microsoft will continue support like Android and Apple have over the past 5 years. Apple is closed, Android is open and WM will be in the middle like before (mod wise) All 3 primary mobile platforms all do the same things now anyway but it comes down to OS specific apps (google maps vs imaps for example) and services

Nice lil video. Im currently on Sprint using the SGSIII (best phone ever) but Im dying to switch to a Windows Phone 8. Does anyone know if either the Nokia Lumia 920 or the Samsung ATIV S is going to T-Mobile? I need a large screen device like the SGSIII. Thanks WMExperts.

Agreed, it's a shame though.

The only reason I went for WP7 (LG Optimus 7 E900) was because I could get a cheap outright price for it (~$180). I've justified my purchase by saying "Well, I got it for cheap so it's a budget phone/OS, I can't expect too much".

The thing is a good android phone costs a bit too much for me outright, so I'm sort of stuck here. If Google brought out a ~$200 outright GNex phone, I'd go to that instantly. It's just price that keeps me with this phone.
