I know someone who worked there, that I consider a genius, who can be a very hard worker in the right conditions... He wasn't laid off in the massive lay off. But he quit because of the massive lay off. He told me, moral was absolutely crushed after the massive lay off. EVERYONE he asked, wanted to quit, not one person was happy to work there, and were looking for a new job. That is what 50% lay off causes. Maybe, reducing the work force was necessary, but seeing most of your friends go overnight, will never send the right message. The best workers will find somewhere else to go to, while the ones that will stay, are the ones that do not have a choice.

Nah, in order to remove any traces of the old culture and eliminate any chance of it reestablishing itself a revolution was direly needed, and this is what its like when you're on the receiving end of it. Also the fire and rehire tactic substantiates the change in culture as the employees now can't expect things to be like back in the day.
