Bald Eagle Scream

Sunset, a Bald Eagle and Raptor-in-Residence here at the Alaska Raptor Center, showing off her vocalization skills! For such a powerful bird, the Bald Eagle has a surprisingly shrill sounding call, usually a series of high-pitched whistling or piping notes.

Did you know Hollywood sound editors often dub over a Bald Eagle's call, with another bird's vocalization? The piercing, earthy screams of a Red-tailed Hawk.

That’s the nickname of my great grandfather’s unit.

He was in the 101st for Normandy, Holland, and Belgium. He had previously been in the 509th in North Africa and the 505th at Sicily, or the 3rd battalion, 504th; we aren’t exactly sure. He was apart of the first assault wave at Sicily so either one of those units he was apart of. Can’t believe I’m the first person to mention the 101st’s nickname the “Screaming Eagles.”
