I never read a book in my life . I’ve always thought is was boring and pointless . One day I hit rock bottom and didn’t know what to do . Couldn’t get a good job because I dropped out of school . Couldn’t support my family or pay my bills . One day I picked up a book and could barely read it but 3 months later I finished it . I was surprised. Then picked up another book finished it in 2 months then another and another and 2 years later I read two books and an audio book and finish them all in around 2 weeks . I’m 39 years old and went back to school to major in Psychology. Reading does change your life !

I'm autistic and I'm a big reader, mainly of fiction. I usually read around 100 books a year. And Autisitc people are known for not understanding theory of mind or lack of emotional intelligence.

However, I've been praised by family and friends for how empathic and perceptive I am to people. And I think a large part of that is the sheer amount of reading I do.

Being raised in a spanish speaking country than coming to America it was hard to read and focus on a book. Words were complex, and honestly mentally exhausting. But now after literally forcing myself to read and searching up meaning of almost every word in a sentence I’ve found a passion to read and it has dramatically changed my life. Please whatever you are doing read
whatever you’re Interested in you won’t be disappointed. Promise.

Books saved my life as a child. I still read constantly and prefer reading to videos and audios, although Im a visual learner and need to watch someone do something to understand.

Im in my early 40s, i used to not read until recently with my son. I noticed a dramatic increase in my awareness of myself and others, and questioning some of societies ills in a deeper level. For example, I read Hunger Games series and I am more aware of what I eat, I work out more and have been doing a lot more outdoor activities.

This is true. When I finally understand a diffcult text it feels as if my mind was freed of something that binds it.

I hated books in school, reading was for nerds (classic) now I’m 25 and just finished my first book 350 pages. Starting my second now.

What I noticed is that reading before bed and not looking at screens helps me sleep better, I also feel much more comfortable having conversation which I struggled with alot

I never read very well in school. After I retired I copied the primer, "Reading With Phonics" by Charles Wingo and Julie Hay from the library. I did all of the exercises daily for over a year and now I know the sounds of the letters and letter combinations. I'm currently reading "Emma" by Jane Austin.

I think school makes us hate books. I hated books, but I knew how good they are for my health.. I always wanted to read them, I would read 20 pages one day and the next I'd stop and throw the book away.

Starting from mid october I read 2 books, 2 mangas and now I'm reading another large book.. how? Well I work in a library and when there's no customer I'd sometimes go through some books, read what they're about and last month I said to myself "Today you're becoming a customer and reading whichever book it is that you want"

Another trick to make you hooked: Don't take a fat book with you. Start with thinner ones who have great stories. First book I read was "Das dunkle Lied des Todes".

A bonus trick: I started a book club hahahah. Every day at 9pm, me and two of my best friends read our books together. This doesn't mean you should sit in a room together. My two friends are from Pakistan and Poland.. I live in Belgium. We have a group chat.
With them I read "Riding the Bullet" I never knew a book could actually make me cry. I also read Attack on Titan No Regrets (2 Parts) and now I took the courage to read a larger book. For some it's not much, but for me it is. Around 450 pages. Plus it's a trilogy. I must say I am a little nervous but with all these tricks I hope I will manage.

And who else likes listening to music while reading?
