I love Potter's reaction when Radar gives him Sophie. It is priceless. A colonel who truly never left the cavalry. As he says when the horse defecates in the office, "Son, to me, that's a tiptoe through the tulips."

Much like Potter, I love horses.

the look on the Col's face always chokes me up as it did over 30 ish years ago when I saw it first time.

"here's the keys", what an innocent line

The man is ex-cavalry. If he spots 3 flies in one place he knows they are talking about a horse.

Or the episode where Potter "gives" Sophie to the old Korean cavalry man, absolutely priceless. I think the addition of Harry Morgan and later David Odgen Stiers really refreshed Mash as a show.

One of my favorites.. Colonel Potter loved that horse.. eventually riding him off into the sunset on the last episode.

The feel of a horse beneath you...it is simply indescribable. Ancient, primal, the power and the peace. Once upon a time, all a man needed was a horse to feel like the lord of all creation. Just you, your partner, and the open trail before you.

Love this scene. You can just see the cavalry memories fly past Potter’s eyes when he sees it.

I still think this one of the best scenes, it was worth the wait to see someone finally post it -- Thanks!

Classic writing for this scene. The way Potter's face just melted when Radar brought the horse into his office.

Mr. Morgan’s reaction is the stuff of legends for his character

I feel like this episode was to symbolize Potter’s acceptance by the MASH unit as Henry’s replacement by showing him how much they care about him.

The perfect present for an old Cavalry man like Col. Potter.

As a horse person who grew up in Australia's snowy mountains, having ridden Brumbies (Australian horses that live in the wild like mustangs) my whole childhood and adolescence I really feel this scene real deep... I absolutely miss my horses... Even the gross parts!!

As a retired soldier, I understand the relationship between these people. I am closer to my former soldiers than I am to my own blood family. We know another understand each other better than anyone else. I miss those times.

I never tire of this show. My kids are fans the hallmark channel used to play 4 episodes back to back and every night they would set with me and watch.

This is one of most favorite moments on Mash, I completely understand Colonel Potters reaction, many people love horses but then there are horse people who have true connections with these amazing animals 🐴❤️
