It took me a while to realize that this is the rollercoaster from IMSM. Man, that recipe has changed a lot since the showcase! Even in the releases for 1.7 and 1.8, which are the ones I used, it was waaaay different.

theres an entrance in the roller coaster and the rail that you were saying is not wrong, it is made for you to stop and the redstone torch is for the rail above it

the redstone torch is not out of place it is for the track on top of it

I made an awesome roller coaster once, it stretched all over my farm! I built it in creative mode, but it was still fun to make. I built some other great stuff in creative mode too, I also made a Spongebob sculpture in a different world! For a test, I tried to put a wild chicken in the minecart for my roller coaster, It wouldn't go. Then I got a spawn chicken egg from my inventory, I broke the egg in the minecart, then I hit the button to make the minecart run and it looked so Then I put her(the chicken)in her pen, I named her Midge. Later I rode the roller coaster and I accidentally got out of the minecart in the middle of the ride and as it rolled closer to the end it hit a wild sheep that was standing on the track. It picked the sheep up and the sheep rode on the roller coaster the rest of the way. I've had some funny experiences with the mobs in Minecraft.

What I think they should have done with that powered rail at the beginning was have a lever next to it, so you can choose if it stops you or if you keep going.
I couldn't find this mod anywhere for some reason so I'm thinking I might try to build this in Minecraft now.

Infinite supplies loophole. Places more blocks than you need to craft it. Kinda neat tho.

I am ready for a mod that allows us to put tracks on any side of a block.... That would make for an awesome rollercoaster

the redstone torch is for the track on top of it people

That redstone torch powers the power rail above it, the off power rail is to stop you
