Even though it is one of the oldest electronic instruments, the theremin is
obscure - but it has had a massive impact on the world. In this combination
of talk and performance, pop singer and thereminist Clara Venice
demonstrates why the theremin is a milestone invention, and explains this
magical instrument's tremendous influence on 20th century pop culture.

Pop singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and romantic — Clara Venice is Canada’s Theremin Prodigy. Clara is one of the only people in the world who plays the Theremin as a proper instrument, which adds an emotional and haunting diversity to her music.

Clara composes ethereal futurepop, with whimsical narratives about spacey love connections. Her live performances include a must-see set design with a virtual band of hologlamorous personas, interactive Theremin-controlled lighting, planetary projections, and awe-inspiring landscapes that morph throughout the show.
Clara has performed around the world, opening for renowned acts such as the Violent Femmes and Carole Pope. She joined the Barenaked Ladies on their 2014 Cross-Canada tour, and has been showcased at The One Man Band Festival, Just for Cats Festival, Kazoo Fest, Word on the Street, NXNE, Spur Festival, IngenuityFest, and Beakerhead.

for those interested in theremin playing, look into carolina eyck. she invented a playing technique that allows playing every note in an octave just by stretching her hand and fingers. she legitimized teaching and playing the theremin and has played on hundreds of venues ranging from solo acts to playing with full orchestra

That moment when you're life is so care-free that you can wake up on a work day and say, "I think I need a theremin."

I also remember the first time I've seen it played and haven't seen it since, nor have I had a chance to see one in person. I've wondered if it would be intuitive to me too. Now my intense curiosity is peeked again! I've got to find one I can try

I am really diggin that hair. Plum cute that's a good look. And I think I would like to try that instrument. I love the sound of the violin and the cello. And the sounds coming from this are similar if not better. Pretty cool I've never heard of it. Once again great look you pulled it off nicely.

From the thumbnail I thought she was a 8 year old girl, but when I clicked on the video, I collapsed.

It's not just human minds that change things, either, which I find amazing. I find it funny that I am also attracted to animals that ironically sound like the theremin, such as the white handed gibbon, the white cheeked gibbon, and marmoset monkeys) yet even years before I knew these animals sounded like that I was creating alien creatures that sounded like them, or rather a theremin. When I discovered that it made me even more eager to get a theremin. Now I have a theremin...in a house that has 8 keyboards in it...except the one I'm using to type this message.

She's probably a trekkie (because StarTrek opening theme reference), plays theremin, and feels free enough to have nicely multicolored hair, and she sounds passionate about what she talks about. I think the universal language of music would make it possible for us, me and her to have a long chat. (translation for those who don't get metaphors: I like making and listening to variety of music to so we could have an inspiring electronic music jamming).
