Amen thank you Ligon! The prophetic literalistic interpretation is such an issue in many evangelical circles. It is just a faulty hermeneutic but I can’t seem to convince my friends.

Thank you Ligon for bringing clarity to much confusion in the church today.

I believe the major error of the protestant reformers was that they taught that a new dispensation was heralded in by Paul in Rom.ch.10.
They failed to take note that all of Pauls' letters begin with the greeting.".. to the saints of..".
All of his letters are addressed to already saved believers, saved before his letters were written.
The only account we have of Paul leading men to Christ is in Acts ch.19. In this chapter, he leads them to Christ by following scripture precisely in line with Peters words in Acts 2:38.
This disproves dispensationalists' assertion that a new dispensation was revealed by Paul.
Lastly, how would Paul had been received, by already saved believers, if he tried to introduce to them a new way to be saved ?

Covenant theology makes a lot if sense... no two plans, no two people groups. ONE plan one people group. Praise God!!!

Top notch summary of this amazing framework drawn from accepting unfolding Scripture on its own terms and not reading the OT as though the NT didn't exist :-)

"Pre-temporal covenant of redemption."
Uh . . . yeah.
Good thing he didn't claim to be using only the Bible, because that is not Bible language. That is some "extra-biblical" terminology and doctrine right there.

Acts 15:15-17 appears to be more a use of that prophecied principle that Gentiles will be saved, not that Gentiles now in the Church are a fulfillment of the rebuilding of the Temple. Imagine if Daniel had made such an assumption concerning the rebuilding of Jerusalem! The very trodding down of Jerusalem by the Babylonians was the fulfillment of the prophecy of the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Daniel would have then made a good Covenant preterist. By destroying Jerusalem the Babylonians had rebuilt it in Covenental type fulfillment. And Daniel's seventy years might have been the age determined for him.

1:00 - Can you give me a single verse that says God only has one plan?
No?
So then that is something you imposed on the scripture, right?

But the Bible does say that God revealed something NEW to Paul, a mystery which had been *HID* from ages and from generations BUT NOW is made manifest to the saints (Col 1:26) . . . a mystery which was not made known unto the sons of men until Paul (Eph 3:3-6) . . . a mystery hid IN GOD (Eph 3:9) . . . and which even the princes in heaven didn't know about or else they would not have crucified Jesus (I Cor 2:7).

So there was the plan revealed in the OT, and then SOMETHING NEW revealed to Paul in the NT.

The very first verse in the Bible says God created 1) the heaven and 2) the Earth. Two realms. The OT was all about God reclaiming the Earth from Satan, but where was any talk about reclaiming heaven? No one, including the princes and principalities, mights and dominions, thought about it until Paul, when a new purpose and plan was revealed, the reconciliation of heaven to God

Sounds like at least two plans to me, Brother.

Just read Acts which he refers to. Doesnt say what he says. How do the land promises made to Israel get fulfilled in me? Which plot of land beside the Euphrates do I get to claim? What nonsense.

Acts 15 doesn't say that. I'm done here.

Billionaire Brother in Christ to Brother Ligon on his deathbed: Rest easy, Brother. I promise you that I will take care of your children and grandchildren, get them their first car and pay for college, health insurance, everything.

Brother Ligon says "thank you" and passes away.

Billionaire Brother shows up in Heaven 60 years later.

Brother Ligon: Hey, you didn't take care of my kids and grandkids like you said you would!

Billionaire: Well, I didn't like your kids, so WHAT I REALLY MEANT is that I would take care of MY grandson and HIS kids.

Sorry, Brother, that is NOT OUR GOD.

He will be faithful to his promises to Israel, no matter how much you try to replace Israel with the church.

This Covenantal framework is beautiful but not Biblical
