Kailh BOX Black Switch Sound Test and Review | Too Heavy?

In this video, I'll be doing a comprehensive sound test of the Ultimate Kailh BOX Black switch on a full keyboard, using SA, MT3, and GMK keycaps. The Kailh BOX Black is a Heavy Linear switch with pretty good smoothness at a great price. Nothing special about this switch, but definitely too heavy for me (but that's a personal preference).

So if you're looking for an honest, informative, and engaging sound test of the Ultimate Kailh BOX Black be sure to watch this video!

The tests for this Kailh BOX Black Sound Test were conducted using an FR4 plate. During the tests, I performed a typing test and a slow bottom-out test to showcase the switch's sound and feel. I also conducted a decibel meter test to measure the switch's noise level with and without a keycap.

Please note that sometimes videos are filmed weeks in advance, and as a result, the camera position and angle may have changed since the filming of other linear switch sound tests. However, despite the difference in microphone position, the microphone used in this test was at a similar distance and position, ensuring that the sound quality was not affected.

Hey there, folks! I'm J-S, and I'm all about making sound test videos for mechanical and non-mechanical keyboards. From the latest MX switches to those classic vintage keyboards, Click and Thock is where you'll find all the keyboard sounds you crave.

I'm talking everything from old-school Alps SKCM switches and IBM Buckling Springs to the freshest Kailh BOX switches. I put 'em all to the test and compare the different sounds these switches and keyboards create.

I also like to experiment with different plates, cases, switches, keycaps, and other components to see how they affect the sound. To keep things fair, I always use the same case, plate, and keycaps when comparing sounds.

So, if you're all about that #keebsporn life, you've come to the right place. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the sweet, sweet sounds of keyboards.

Gotta say I deeply appreciate the videos that focus on the more regularly available "normie" switches. Vids like these I think should have a dual-purpose; exposure (obviously), but also as a buying guide of sorts.

Do you have plans for reviews of low profile switches?

Never have tried heavy linears. Wonder how I would take to them as I've never liked the bog standard light ones...

A staple and cheaper alternative 5 years ago, but nowadays kind of mediocre when compared with the myriad of heavy linears

My wrist can't bear black switches... gateron yellow is enough and cherry red is perfect for me.
